We have taken numerous measures in quality control to ensure that your product arrives in top condition and will perform to your satisfaction. In the rare event that your RRDS100 Rear Deck Scrolling Digital LED Message System contains a damaged or missing item, does not perform as specified, requires warranty service, or you have an installation problem, DO NOT RETURN THIS PRODUCT TO THE STORE. Parts Installation Operation Operation Before You Start Recommended Mounting 1. Before mounting permanently, it is recommended that you have someone hold the RRDS100 in place so that you can see how it looks from outside the car. 2. Check the power cable length to ensure the 12V adaptor will reach to the closest 12V power supply jack. 3. Ensure the IR sensor and red action indicator are visible from your rear view mirror. 4. Prepare mounting area with a glass cleaner. 5. Remove paper from one side of the adhesive mounting pad and secure pads to the recessed surface of the mounting feet. Once pads are secured to the mounting feet, remove paper from the exposed side of both pads and secure unit to the glass surface in the desired location. Note: If you must relocate the unit after mounting you will need to replace the mount- ing pads. 6. Rotate housing so that the display can be easily viewed. 7. Run the 12V adaptor cable along the edge of the cars seals to the 12V power supply jack. Note: Ensure that the cable is installed so that passen- gers will not trip over it when entering and exiting the vehicle. Program And Save A Message The RRDS100 has 99 pre-programmed that you may edit and save in memory. (SEE Library of Words and Phrases) 1. To enter text press EDIT 2. Last message will be displayed, to remove text press ERASE, to clear entire message press DOWN. 3. Use alphanumeric Buttons to input required character. Press same button quickly to advance through characters, wait 1 second to use same letter again, or press next required character. 4. To insert a library word or phrase, press LIBRARY followed by the library number ie: 06 or 41 etc. 5. To insert a space press SPACE. To change characters to lower case press SHIFT. 6. Once you have completed a message press PLAY once to check this mes- sage. If you are unhappy with this message then press EDIT again to dis- play the message for alteration. 7. After a modification press PLAY again to display your message (only press play once). 8. If your are satisfied with the message you have created, store your message in the Pre-set Memory Buttons by pressing STORE followed by one of 10 Pre-set Memory Buttons, MO to M9 or BANNER of your choice. 9. Your message is now stored in this memory location and can be replayed at any time by simply pressing this memory button. Note: The message board has a maximum memory capability of 470 char- acters. Up to 80 characters can be programmed into memory locations, however the total sum of the messages stored cannot exceed 470. Profanity Filter The RRDS100 message board has a built-in filter which prevents the use of some words (profanity). Most profanity will be displayed as ****. Playing Messages 1. To play a message stored on a Pre-set Memory Button: press M0 to M9. 2. To play a word or phrase stored in the Words and Phrases Library: press LIBRARY followed by the library number, ie: 06 or 41 etc. 3. To play the banner message press BANNER 4. To play the current message continuously: press ONLY 5. To play messages backwards: press MIRROR Programming a Sequence Of Messages Up to 16 messages can be replayed in a sequence from the memory of the unit. To program a sequence: 1. First clear all stored messages to ensure no unwanted messages are included. Press SETUP followed by ERASE. 2. Play required messages from Memory keys, Banner message or Library phrases in the order required. 3. To remove last played message from sequence press ERASE 4. Once you have played the sequence of messages you require, press PLAY to play sequence once, or PLAY/PLAY to repeat sequence continuously. 5. To turn off the message scroller press CANCEL 6. To save message sequence for next power up press SETUP, then STORE Adjusting The SPEED Of The Display To increase the speed of the display: 1. Press SPEED, followed by UP; continue to do this until required speed is achieved. Digital LED Message Board Remote Control Read and follow these instructions carefully before installing or using the Electronic Message Board System. Always use the 12 Volt Adaptor to supply power to the RRDS100. Never connect directly to your cars battery or fuse block, as the adaptor con- tains a safety fuse that should not be bypassed. Turn OFF any device in your vehicle as this devices remote control may interfere with other devices operated by remote control. Other devices remote controls may interfere with this device. Do not cover the vents on the ends of the RRDS100 as overheating may occur. Keep your RRDS100 away from moisture and excessive humidity. It should be mounted inside the vehicle only. Clean with a dry cloth only. Do not program messages while driving. Obey all local, state, and federal traffic laws regarding the use of this product. For best viewing, remove window tinting in the mounting area. Turning Power On and Off 1. Start vehicle or turn ignition to accessory position to operate unit. 2. Turn OFF any device in the vehicle that can be operated by remote control. 3. Insert the 12 Volt adaptor plug into the vehicles 12 Volt power port/Cigarette lighter socket. The current banner message will be displayed. 4. To turn the unit OFF, remove the adaptor from the receptacle. IR Remote Control Sensor The Rear Deck Scrolling Digital Message System has an IR Sensor on the back of the unit. Do not block the sensor, this sensor allows the remote control to control the unit. Mounting Pads Remote Control 1. Remove the remotes battery compartment cover. 2. Insert the two AAA batteries provided being sure to maintain polarity, follow the positive and negative orientation indicated in the bat- tery compartment. 3. Replace the battery compartment cover. NOTE: This devices remote control may interfere with other devices operated by remote control. Other devices remote controls may interfere with this device. Press SPEED, followed by DOWN; continue to do this until required speed is achieved. Adjusting The BRIGHTNESS Of The Display Increase the brightness: 1. Press LIGHT, followed by UP; continue to do this until required brightness is achieved. Decrease the brightness: 1. Press LIGHT, followed by DOWN; continue to do this until required bright- ness is achieved. Understanding the LED Activity Indicator The Rear Deck Digital Messaging System has an LED activity indicator on the back of the unit. See IR Remote Control Sensor. The activity indicator allows the driver to visually see through the rear view mirror that the unit is working. A short blink indicates that a button on the remote was pressed. Fast blinks indicate that the message(s) is/are being displayed. A long, continuous blink indicates that the message has finished. Library of Words and Phrases The Digital Message System comes with pre-programmed words and phrases that you can have running quickly on the RDDS100. To play a word or phrase stored in the Words and Phrases Library: Press LIBRARY followed by the phrase number, ie: 06 or 41 etc., then press Play.
