#oth within the *usiness and academic sectors, one cannot a+oid
reference to the rise of India as a dominant player in the glo*al
marketplace, Its *urgeoning information technology sector,
entrepreneurial pri+ate sector, a*undant source of high +alue added,
knowledge/*ased la*or, and e?panding domestic market cannot *e
ignored, Indian companies such as Infosys, one of the leading
international IT firms, and the Tata 6roup, owner of *rands including
5aguar, Ro+er, and the Rit8/:arlton #oston, are *ecoming glo*ally
recogni8a*le, 4oreign companies including 7yundai and :isco are
making significant e?pansions to their Indian operations, while others
including Wal/Mart and Proctor and 6am*le are de+eloping relationships
that will ena*le them to reach a population in e?cess of one *illion, One
of the challenges of this growth is the need to train the ne?t generation of
Indian *usiness leaders, This places significant responsi*ility on the
academic sector and in particular schools of *usiness, 7a+ing recently
spent time as an outsider to Indian *usiness academe, I offer o*ser+ations
and reflections on the challenges of and opportunities for *usiness
education in India, While these are *ased on the Indian conte?t, it is not
unlikely that there are parallels in other rapidly e?panding economies,
INSTITUTIONAL CHALLENGES
In recent years, India has e?perienced a large increase in the num*er of
institutions offering graduate management programs, Most of these ha+e
*een pri+ate institutions, Three particular conse9uences of this are of
significance, 6i+en the relati+e infancy of graduate *usiness education in
India@the Indian Institutes of Management =IIM>, Indian Institutes of
Technology =IIT>, and a handful of other well esta*lished and highly
reputa*le institutions apart@it is not clear whether international
standards ha+e *een achie+ed within much of the sector, &+en programs
at the leading institutions, while *eing compara*le in 9uality to those of
leading programs glo*ally are, for a +ariety of reasons, not accredited
*y international *odies such as !!:%# International, "omestically, there
is also no single accreditation agency, with more than a do8en agencies
ser+ing this role, The central go+ernmentAs ational !ssessment and
!ccreditation :ouncil has, for e?ample, accredited only 0B *usiness
schools ="amast, 211C>, !n additional challenge is that attaining status as
a Ddeemed uni+ersity,A which is re9uired to offer an M#! degree, can
come only from the $ni+ersity 6rants :ommission
=$6:>, The $6: is a go+ernment *ody that esta*lishes and maintains
educational standards within the higher education sector, 7owe+er, the
actions of the $6: are not necessarily dri+en *y academics *ut also *y
politics and influence =Phatak, 211B>, With new and largely pri+ate
institutions entering the fold, there is a real risk that the o+erarching goal,
certainly in the near term, is either financial or to ha+e a presence in the
marketplace, with educational 9uality and academic integrity *eing of
secondary importance, !*sent appropriate mechanisms to ensure
o+ersight of academic 9uality, this is reason for concern, Related to the
issue of academic standards is that of faculty 9ualifications, The growth
in the num*er of *usiness schools, the financial lure of the pri+ate sector,
and a DstigmaA associated with doctoral 9ualifications, ha+e led to a
shortage of 9ualified faculty,
OPPORTUNITIES
The a*o+e o*ser+ations do not represent a comprehensi+e scientific study
of *usiness education in India, They are the o*ser+ations of one
indi+idual whose cultural roots lie in India *ut who has spent the last 0B
years as a faculty mem*er in the $,%, They are not intended to *e critical
*ut to identify opportunities, India has undergone significant economic
transformation in the post/0330 era when the economy was li*erali8ed,
and a concerted effort made to mo+e away from the socialist economic
model that had pre+ailed since independence in 03EF, What has
transpired to date is howe+er just a *eginning, There are sectors within
the economy that ha+e *arely *egun the journey to moderni8ation, Others
ha+e *egun *ut ha+e yet to reach the le+els of progress, growth, and
engagement in a glo*al conte?t seen *y, for e?ample, the IT sector,
"emand for well trained, competent managers, comforta*le making
decisions in a comple?, rapidly changing en+ironment, is set to grow, If
India is to maintain, if not enhance its glo*al economic position, *usiness
schools need to respond in a timely manner, This will re9uire not only an
infusion of resources, *ut institutional and go+ernmental commitment to
upgrading standards and defining the role *usiness education will play in
future economic de+elopment, It will also re9uire *reaking away from
traditional academic models of pedagogy and hierarchy that are deeply
rooted in culture, The road ahead is filled with challenges *ut also untold
possi*ilities,

FINDINGS
"uring the summer internship project we come to know a*out the
thinking and mentality of the students who want to join the P6"M
programme as from the a*o+e data it is +ery clear that placement record
and fee structure is the most crucial factor for the students who want to
pursue this programme, This means most of students just want to pursue
this course to get a jo* with handsome salary this is why today any
management degree just *ecomes a source of income in a low
in+estment, Today e+ery student ha+e a desire to join that institution
which pro+ide them a guarantee of cent percent placement students are
+ery less concerned a*out the intellectual capital of an institution they
just want to reconcile the pre+ious placement records of an institution,
SUGGESTION
4rom the a*o+e report we would like to suggest the management of the
#usiness %chool Of "elhi that today where e+eryone is thinking a*out
the ma?imum return from low in+estment thatAs why they should focus
on the placement department of the institution which means they should
try that their each and e+ery student gets a jo* with handsome salary
*ecause this is the only way to *ring the college into the limelight among
the students, There is no pro*lem as far as marketing strategy is
concerned apart from the promotional area *ecause a*o+e data shows
that 3BQ of the students doesnAt know a*out #usiness %chool of "elhi
e+en then they ha+e managed to take lots of admissions in the past, This
is why the area of concerned today *ecomes placement in the college and
management should take care a*out the placement of the students, !nd
a*o+e all they should try to promote their college in such a way that
student at least knows the name of the college *ecause until or unless
student doesnAt knows a*out it how will they think of getting admission
in the college,
%o, it is our suggestion to the management to the
management to make necessary changes in the marketing strategy
*y introducing promotion programme for the college and a*o+e all
enhanced their placement cell for *etter placement of the students
*ecause this is the era of industriali8ation where need of
management graduates increasing day *y day thatAs why the scope
of P6"M in near future is +ery good,

CONCLUSION
4rom the a*o+e report we would like to conclude that the prospects of
#usiness %chool of "elhi is +ery good in the near future *ecause it has
+ery good infrastructure , 9ualified faculty , wifi campus , fully furnished
classroom and much more thing and a*o+e all marketing strategy is +ery
good apart from the promotional acti+ity, If the institution takes care of
the promotional acti+ities and the placement records of the students then
only sky is the limit *ecause after that it will *ecome a complete package
which a student demands in any P6"M institution,
