1 The HASP HL SRM Hardware Key
Your TEMS software package contains a hardware key for your PC, which is a
hardware-based solution for licensing the software. Without this hardware key you
cannot run your TEMS application.
A damaged hardware key will be replaced for a replacement charge upon receipt of the
damaged hardware key. There will be no replacement of a hardware key that has been
lost, stolen, etc. In the latter case a new software license must be purchased.
The hardware key is plugged into the PC.

2 Using the HASP HL SRM Hardware
Key
2.1 Permanent Registration Copy
Attach your hardware key to your computer. You can then start the TEMS application
and use it indefinitely (no expiration date).
2.2 Trial Copy
Attach your hardware key to your computer. You can then start the TEMS application
and use it until the key expires.
2.3 Lease Copy
Attach your hardware key to your computer. You can then start the TEMS application
and use it for one year. The hardware key is programmed to expire in one year and
seven days. (The seven days are added to compensate for shipping time.)

3 Using the HASP HL SRM Key Reader
Some TEMS applications include a utility called HASP HL SRM Key Reader which can
check and display what is covered by your license. How to launch this utility is
described in the users manual for your TEMS application.
4 Updating the HASP HL SRM
Hardware Key
4.1 When Updates Are Needed
An update of the hardware key information is necessary when converting a trial or
evaluation hardware key into a permanent or lease hardware key (see chapter 2).
An update is also necessary when upgrading a hardware key supporting an earlier
version of your TEMS application to support a later version, or when adding new
license options.
4.2 The Remote Update System Application
To modify the programming of hardware keys, the Remote Update System application
is used.
When updating from an older TEMS application using HASP HL to a current one using
HASP HL SRM, you need to run two versions of the Remote Update System
application. See below.
4.2.1 Running the HASP HL SRM Remote Update System
Application
Make sure you have installed your TEMS application software. Then plug your
hardware key into the PC. Navigate to the Application folder beneath the TEMS
applications installation directory and run the file hasprus.exe. This dialog box opens:

Remote Update System dialog: Collect Key Status Information tab
Now collect the key information by clicking the Collect information button. A file with
extension .c2v is created. Choose a suitable file name and save the file. This file will be
used in section 4.2.3.
If you get an error message like the one below, you need to upgrade the hardware key
firmware to enable SRM functionality. See chapter 5.

4.2.2 Running the HASP HL Remote Update System Application
This procedure is identical to the one described in section 4.2.1 except that you run the
file hasprus_hl.exe instead. It is found in the same directory as hasprus.exe. The
output is again a *.c2v file, which you need to save.

4.2.3 Requesting New Registration Information
Contact customer support (see chapter 5) by e-mail, supplying the following
information:
1 the HASP HL SRM *.c2v file obtained in section 4.2.1
2 the HASP HL *.c2v file obtained in section 4.2.2
3 the hardware key serial number (printed on the label that is stuck onto the hardware
key)
4 the purchase order number of the upgrade.
4.2.4 Updating Registration Information
You will receive a file with extension .v2c from customer support. Once you have this
file, you can update your hardware key as follows:
1 Make sure that the hardware key is physically attached to your computer.
2 Navigate to the TEMS application folder and run the file hasprus.exe. The Remote
Update System dialog opens.
3 Select the Apply License Update tab.
4 Select the received file, and click the Apply update button. See the screenshot
below.

5 The result of the operation will be displayed in the main window of the dialog. When
you have successfully updated the hardware key, exit the Remote Update System
application.
6 You can now start using your TEMS application with the updated key.
5 Updating the Hardware Key Firmware
for HASP HL SRM
If you received an error message when trying to retrieve the information stored in the
hardware key, that is because the hardware key firmware is old and does not support
SRM. You then need to upgrade the firmware:
1 First make sure that only one hardware key is connected to the PC.
2 The hardware key should be plugged into the PC directly, not through a USB hub.
3 Go to the Application directory beneath the TEMS applications installation directory
and run the file FirmwareUpdate.exe.
4 Click the Apply update button. The firmware will now be updated. Do not unplug the
hardware key until notified that the update is complete.
