What do schools need to do to prepare students for the 21st Century?

Discuss your
opinions.
In the 21st century, there are many challenges that need to be undertaken to ensure
that each student is able to cope with an increasingly technological world today. This coupled
with increasing penetration network connecting every corner of the world without borders.
The students at this age need to be complemented by a wide range of skills so they can
compete in the job market when they finished their school or at the university.
The first is communication. Communication is a very important aspect in providing
students who can face the 21st century. This is because communication is a medium that can
connect them with the outside world and can penetrate into the world. Communication
involves mainly English language proficiency and mastery in the field of information
technology is the bridge to all aspects of our relationship now. Good command of the
language facilitates the understanding of the information available in cyberspace, mostly in
English. When students are able to use information technology as a medium of
communication, it was an advantage to them to get in touch with the outside world. These
days, if we do not control the information technology and English language well we will far
behind.
Next, students should be exposed to teamwork, work ethic, discipline and moral value
in the performance of assigned responsibilities. This is one aspect that needs to be nurtured
from childhood, and when they grow up, it's easy for them to adapt to society and work
environment. In each lesson, students should be implemented in collaboration with the group,
the team ethic and discipline that can be applied once they are in the working world soon.
Teamwork is one of the requirements of any organization which aims to ensure the success of
the organization. That is why many companies hire workers who were not among the
academic excellence alone but on criteria such as association activities, leadership is one very
important aspect in determining who is eligible to work with them.
The third aspect that needs to be needed by someone the students in this century are
knowledge. This is the third aspect that needs to be instilled in a student. Why is this aspect
not be the first thing to be evaluated in determining he could be employed in an organization?
This is because knowledge is something to be learned by experience or reading. Effective
communication skills and can collaborate in groups is an aspect that needs to be nurtured in
schools. However, the knowledge of a person can be measured based on the results obtained
during a student at school or at university. In education nowadays, a lot of transformation has
occurred primarily in education in Malaysia. This includes incorporating school-based
assessment instrument in which students are assessed comprehensively cover aspects that we
have discussed earlier. Not only knowledge is measured, everything like moral values ,
cooperation , teamwork , collaboration , creativity and other skills are also evaluated and
applied to the student will master all aspects required to fulfil the aspirations of the nation in
producing quality human beings.

Children learn best by observing the behavior of adults and copying it. Do you agree or
disagree? Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer.
We often hear the statement that parents was the first teacher to our children . While
we as parents do not exercise formal teaching to our children, but indirectly, we also teaching
them without realizing it. This happens when our children learn by imitating and repeating
something of what we do or say when we were at home . We may not realize it at first but
when we look back on what they did we would be surprised at what can be done by your
children. That does why I agree with the fact of the children can learn through observation
and imitation of actions.
If you are a parent, we have many opportunities to be involved with the child, it will
be easier for you to understand that children can learn quickly by observing the behaviour of
adults and copying it. Spending a lot of time to take care of my children aged less than 1 year
has helped me to have more experience in this field.
The first thing my son learned is how the phone works in general. One day he was
crawling on the floor and found my cell phone and placed it in the ear as if talking to
someone. I was impressed with the actions of my child and made me think how he knew to
put the phone on his ear. Just after that I remembered that I always answer the phone in front
of him. The constantly repeated action that he saw could have an impact until he can apply
his own the use of cell phones in general.
Children easily learn by the speech as we always say in front of them. Do not be
surprised if we heard their ribald but the fact that they hear when we do so in front of them.
There are many advantages in terms of the learning based on copying and imitating attitude.
Among them are cultivating a good attitude if we show a good attitude in front of our
children. We can also develop an interest in reading for example if we always show a reading
in front of them and healthy activities such as gardening, painting, dancing and so on .
Let us not forget that every gesture and speech, we serve as a lesson for our children.
Sometimes we forget to hide our weaknesses as do the activity of inappropriate or in terms
verbal. The example that we need to avoid is a ribald when angry and throws garbage
everywhere. Two examples of this are so easy to follow and observed by our children
because if left unchecked they will emulate what we do.
A child is like a "mirror that reflects not only the behaviour but also the people who are not
better than the adults. No parent wants to teach their children bad habits, but you should keep
in mind that their eyes are always watching our attitudes as parents. New research shows that
one of the reasons for a child to lie early is that they just copy their parents.
In conclusion, adults who live with children should play an important role in creating
a good feature that can be a useful in the future. Thus, by taking good care of your behaviour
helps to keep your kids learn good thing.

The destruction of the worlds forests is inevitable as our need for land and food grows.
Do you agree?

In February 2013 and already 19 million children have been born this year. In just
under 3 months, there are already 19 million more people that need a home, food, and water
all the essentials of life. By the end of the year, according to some estimation, the population
will have grown by 77 million.
In the 20th century alone, the population increased from 1.65 billion to 6 billion.
Thats a 264% increase and from the population in 1800 (1 billion) to now? Thats a
699,900% increase! By 2025, people are estimating the population to hit 8 billion.
The problem that our planet wasnt meant to fit 8 billion humans and all the other life
we have here and the Earth isnt going to grow fast enough to fit 8 billion people in 12 years
and what happens after 8 billion?
As medicinal knowledge increased, the mortality rate steadily decreased which is a
great thing in many ways. Illnesses that would have killed people a hundred years ago are
easily cured. People with diseases that would have meant a childhood death now survive and
live a relatively normal life. Birth complication that would have meant the death of the baby
and the mother are easily overcome.
Basically, less people die and more people live to a ripe old age than in years gone by.
Which means, our need for land and food is growing along with our population.
Every day, forests are cut down to make space for condos or maybe just for wood. In
just a few months many forests have been cut down. At this rate, the destruction of the
worlds forests is inevitable.
The forests are cut down in order to fulfil the world food demand. As we can see the
relationship between population and need of food are increasing rapidly. More human means
more food. More food means more space to plant food or rear animals. Where the space now
limited and the last resort is to cut down the forests and worst case is when we have to cut
down the reserve forest.
There are ways that we can slow the destruction such as reusing old abandoned
buildings or destroying them to make new buildings but these alternatives are both costly and
hard which means no one is willing to do them.
Another problem with that plan which sort of ties in with the expensive is short
sighted government employees who cant really see past money and the fact that they like
money.
They dont really care about the future because they cant make any profit from the
future. People seem to think that the impending ruin of Earth is just their kids and their
grandchildrens problem.
Maybe we can slow the destruction of the forests by making smarter decisions.
Government in a country should make a smart forest management in order to fulfil the need
of space for living and need for space for the forest lo live. If theres no forest in this world,
what would happen to our earth climate? There will be an end to the world if we cannot
manage our forest wisely.

Why community service is important in todays world?

Though, the concept of community service is not very new its importance has
developed in the past few years. There are thousands of organizations all over the world that
engage and hold millions of young people all through the world. People of all age groups,
with a maximum number of youth are involved in the process of community service.
Community-based organizations include; social service organizations, non-profit
providers and associations that engage both young people as well adults as volunteers; youth
development organizations, after-school programs, and faith-based organizations. The
process is beneficial both for the individuals as well as the society. Some people ask, Why is
community service such an important quality and trait for a person to possess? Without
community service people would not know the meaning of charity and giving back.
Community service can be defined as a service that is performed for the benefit of the
public. Community service is not a responsibly or an obligation; it is a commitment. A person
must want to do it with good intentions and not because they are being forced to do so.
Basically, community service is a way for a person to give back to a community in which
they live. There are many ways of giving back to the community; it can include tutoring local
elementary students, mentoring local high school students, collecting items for charity, or just
simply cleaning up a park.
One of the main benefits of community service is that it builds a persons character. It
helps you to work on skills of being able to communicate with people, being able to work on
a team, and being able to take on leadership role; all of these being skills that a person can
use throughout their entire lives.
Community service is so important to help the needy, for example, in the volatile
country and war. Community Service society will help these people in terms of medical,
psychological and shelter. Not only that, for those whose hit by natural disasters such as the
huge buttress roots, drought, storms, tsunamis and so on need the community service to help
those in distress. Government and the authorities are not able to provide enough staff in the
event of a disaster or the restive region.
Similarly, in countries experiencing war, not many volunteers dare to help on the
risky ground and dangerous. The function of community service is required at this time for
example in Syria, Palestine and other countries. So we need community service groups come
forward to help the victims.
In a community or region, there should be at least a group of people build their own
community service team and try to involve as much as people to join them. This team can
always prepared and standby when they are needed. Not only ready for disaster or danger but
creating community that alert every time and able to create caring and loving community.
In a world full of challenges and increasingly sophisticated, people might start
forgetting community service as an important element in society. This is due to the influence
of technology to our community rarely go out and just social networks in gadget and
computer take place. Community service programs should be expanding starting in schools,
villages, housing estates, and government agencies, private or non-profit organization. We
should start to realize that life in community is still needed at the moment though times had
changed.

Tourism is becoming increasingly important as a source of revenue for many countries
but its disadvantages should not be overlooked. What are some of the disadvantages of
tourism?

It cannot be denied that tourism nowadays is one of the worlds biggest industries,
bringing huge amount of income to developing as well as developed countries. It might
include services such as entertainment, accommodation or catering for tourists. But as the
matter of fact, tourism has both advantages and also disadvantages. We usually know that
positive impact of tourism in a country can increase the revenue of a country but there are
also disadvantages of tourism.
Successful tourism relies on establishing a basic infrastructure, such as roads, visitor
centres and hotels. The cost of this usually falls on the government, so it has to come out of
tax revenues. Jobs created by tourism are often seasonal and poorly paid, yet tourism can
push up local property prices and the cost of goods and services. Money generated by tourism
does not always benefit the local community, as some of it leaks out to huge international
companies, such as hotel chains. Destinations dependent on tourism can be adversely affected
by events such as terrorism, natural disasters and economic recession.
Visitor behaviour can have a detrimental effect on the quality of life of the host
community. For example, crowding and congestion, drugs and alcohol problems, prostitution
and increased crime levels can occur. Tourism can even infringe on human rights, with locals
being displaced from their land to make way for new hotels or barred from beaches.
Interaction with tourists can also lead to an erosion of traditional cultures and values.
Tourism poses a threat to a region's natural and cultural resources, such as water
supply, beaches, coral reefs and heritage sites, through overuse. It also causes increased
pollution through traffic emissions, littering, increased sewage production and noise.
In some countries like Bahamas, tourism has a negative effect on the Bahamian
culture. It has often been said that Bahamians have become too Americanised and have lost
their identities as they try to become the tourists (actors/actresses, singers, rappers etc.) they
see and admire who come to the Bahamas often.
Tourism has diminished the desire of local to listen to Bahamian music. Many people
especially youngster would prefer to listen to some rapper or R&B singer rather than a local
artist singing traditional music. It also has caused the crime rate in the tourist attraction place
to increase. This is closely related to shifts in the population in the region.
Tourism has influenced the manner in which the people dress. We usually see a
young people with their pants hanging really low down on his hips, with a cap on his head
that still has the tag on it, this was not traditional attire. Females wearing long boots of any
style even when it is not cold outside, this were not originally the local.
Tourism has influenced the manner in which the local speak. The influence from the
foreigner created a language effect to the whole community. They dont speak the language
anymore and shifting to a English speaking community. This is happen in Bali especially
when the locals can speak American fluently as they were exposed to the American and the
foreigners for a long time ago.
As a conclusion, even there are more disadvantages reveals about the tourism, we still
need the tourism to expand and increase the economic value of the country or the region.
People still want to travel and visit beautiful places in other places and witness the beauty of
our country and as the citizen must help the government to decrease the negative impact of
the tourism in order to make the tourism as the value added product in our economy.
