TEAMWORK GUIDELINES

Task:
The team is to solve the tale. To accomplish this task each team must do two things
(1) obtain all clues and (2) determine the correct solution .The solution may not be
submitted until all of the clues of the tale are in the teams possession. The facilitator will
tell you if you have all the clues and your answer is correct.
Procedure:
To obtain all the clues you negotiate with the other three teams for the clues
The rules for negotiation are
1. nly one member of a team may leave the team at any one time.
2. nly one member may negotiate with any team at any one time.
!. "ach member of the team must have at least one opportunity to negotiate with
another team.
#. $o more than two clues may be e%changed during any transaction with another
team.
Tale 1
# &r. smith and his son are driving in a car.
! The car crashed.
1 The father was killed instantly.
2 The son was critically in'ured and rushed to the hospital.
1 The surgeon took a look at him and said( ) cant operate on him. *e is my
son( +rthur.,
- *ow do you e%plain this.
Tale 2
1 + grocer has some apples for sale.
! ne customer buys one half of all the apples plus a half an apple.
- + second customer takes one /half of the remaining apples plus a half an
apple
2 The third customer purchases one half of the 0uantity left plus a half an
apple
1 The grocer is now completely sold out
! $one of the customers bought fractions of apple
2 +ll purchases were whole numbers of apples
1 *ow many apples did the grocer originally have.
Tale !
1 Two people own a horse.
2 "ach person insists that his1her horse is the slowest .
! They were going to have a race to settle the argument but neither person
would trust that the other would ride to the fullest without the slightest holding back of
the horse.
1 *ow can the slowest horse be definitely established.
Tale #
2 There are 12 white socks and #2 red socks all mi%ed up in a drawer.
! These are individual socks( not pairs.
1 +ll socks are same si% and made of the same material so no distinction
can be made by any of your senses.
# 3hat is the minimum number of socks you must pull out of the drawer (
with your eyes closed( to ensure one matching pair was among those chosen.
Tale -
- +ndersons really mean business this time. They have hired cedric
4ongnose( the toughest baby sitter in town( to watch their brood tonight
# The +ndersons have a great bunch of kids they hard to handle

1 ) forget 'ust how many kids they have( but ) do know that each daughter
has the same number of brothers as she has daughter has the same number of brothers as
she has sisters.
- +lso( each of the boys has twice as many sisters as he has brothers
