Part 5 Tareeqah Muhammadiyah

Itikaaf 2014
Wednesday 23rd July 2014 (25th Ramadhan)
Discourse after Zuhr by Shaykh Ahmad Dabbagh

Allah "Allah will not change you until you try to change yourself" His fazl has no limit but no
one knows who gets his fazl.

Rasoolullah (sallallahu alayhe wasallam) was crying and weeping to come towards guidance.
If he could've guided just like that then no crying was needed.

Hadith "My example is that you are going towards fire but I am dragging you from your
backs and you are forcefully going". The moths see light and thinks it's a door towards light
but it's really fire. Do not behave like moths. Dunya and shaytaan will not give you light or
peace, it's only a deception.
Allah "the life of dunya is nothing but a deception"

Yesterday, we covered the third stage but some more detail today.

4 sates of human being

Mashaikh say that you will only ever be in one of these 4 states. If you only face 4 types of
disease and you have 4 cures then you are saved 100%. It's like 4 seasons, if it's hot weather
you need light clothes, warm clothes will harm you. In each weather you have a different
reaction. Like our body faces 4 season, there are 4 seasons for our heart. No hot wether will
harm you, no cold weather will harm you but you need to know what clothes to wear.

1 state is called blessings (n'ima) and the opposite is season of affliction/problem. Either it is
one or the other. Either you face what your nafs feels happy with or sad with.

The other is obedience or disobedience.

All the times these seasons hangs continuously, either you will be in some good thing like
itikaaf etc or involved a bad thing.

If you want to be safe from them, you have to have the right reaction.

1) Blessing - reaction is thankfulness - (then) this will remain a blessing
Eg you have wealth
(3 parts of thankfulness)
1.1) thanking with the heart = it is not mine, it is from Allah.
(One shaykh told his student to thank Allah for his successful business but he said "why
should I thank Allah when I have done the work?") The shaykh said "The body you uses to
work, who created it? The time you used, who created it? If you think Allah is not to be
thanked, then create a place yourself. Where did you create, what did you use? You use a
cloth, well I've seen a lot of that. Correct your idea. Who gave you the brain that you used.
Moreover who gave you the idea. If it is yours why didn't it come before."

This is the fitnah (test) that they attribute it to them self.

2) Mention the blessing to others.

How many times do we mention the blessings that Allah has given us, rather we are always
mentioning problems. One companion lost one eye and immediately praised Allah for the
other eye. One could complain about the eye he has lost.

The greatest blessing is sending of Rasoolullah (sallallahu alayhe wasallam) and Milad is just
the mentioning of that blessing. Everyday person thanks Allah for food. And then there you
are getting the best blessing and we thank Allah once on Milad and people are saying "what
are you thanking for that (sending of Rasoolullah (sallallahu alayhe wasallam) )". If people
are doing things wrong in Milad like free mixing and missing prayers, that's wrong but does
it make thanking for the blessing wrong? I've known that people steal in Makkah and
Madinah but does that mean people should not go I umrah?

Allah didn't say about any (other) blessing that "I have favoured you" so mentioning
Rasoolullah (sallallahu alayhe wasallam) is salawat and durood and nasheed. Allah and
Rasoolullah (sallallahu alayhe wasallam) do not benefit, it is an expression of thankfulness.
"O Allah you send blessing to Rasoolullah (sallallahu alayhe wasallam) I cannot, I am just
admitting my helplessness"

Imam Abdul wahab sharani (rahimahullah) he has written a book that is 500 pages and is 5
times thicker than the TM course book where he has just mentioned the blessing Allah has
given him.

3) Gratefulness by using your organs not to disobey Allah

(Summary) Heart, tongue, other organs.

Second sate which we go through is problems. Financial medical social knowledge wise,
spiritual. The reaction should be sabr patience. You converted the problem into a blessing.

Sabr is the opposite if shukr. It doesn't mean you should not cry or be upset.

(Patience) also have 3 elements

1) Sabr - (heart) it has come from Allah because of my wrong doing whereas shukr is come
from Allah and not my doing

Quran "whatever misfortune befalls you is due to your own wrongdoing" and that is to turn
you back because you've gone astray"
It is Allah's way of communicating with you through misfortune. Asaba (asbaab misfortune)
means something which reaches you. It come from Allah due to your own wrongdoing to
give you a lesson to be compassionate.

The message is "my servant come back, I've not created you for that". Hazrat Musa
alayhissalam did dua against Pharaoh. But only little punishments came. He asked Allah
about this. Allah replied "On the door of his house, the name of Allah was written possible
by sayida Aasia (radhiAllahuanha) . Until this name is there I'm not going to destroy him, so
Allah destroyed him in the sea.

2) With tongue, admit I have done much more wrong. Who owned it took it back. I only
leased it. It was his blessing that he let me borrow it for 1 year, so on. Not to use the tongue
to say "why Allah has done this to me"

The worse you are the less you feel. The better you are the less you feel. Look at ambiya
they are saying "I do astagfar 70-100 times a day" not from sin but according to his
(Rasoolullah (sallallahu alayhe wasallam)) level. Hazrat Abu bakr siddique (radhiAllahuanhu)
is saying "I wish I was this dry leaf"

3) Because that problem have come, not to use it because of under pressure. People say
"just do it" stopping the body from disobedience.

If not crying was patience, then Yaqub alayhissalam cried so much that he lost his eyes.
"Allah said he had best kind of patient" our standards are wrong. (Crying is fine, to be upset
is fine. That isn't against patience).

No one can benefit from the book fully until I explain to them.

The precious book were referred to as books of Allah. But not literally kalam (speech) ullah.
Quran is only kalam ullah is it's speciality. Other books revealed were like hadth qudsi, in the
words of prophets or angels.

3) In obedience, should become lower (humble). Ibadah's (worships) reaction should be
abdiyah (servitude). If it creates arrogance then this is like shaytaans Ibadat.

(Pious saying) "Any sin that brings lowliness is better than that good deeds that brings
takabur (arrogance) from the result point of view. "

4) Disobedience / sinfulness - reaction should be taubah (repentance). Sin is converted into
a virtue because of repentance.
Quran "Allah changes the bad deeds into good deeds." The right reaction makes sins (into)
virtue.

Don't have wrong reaction, (saying) "I will never be right (guided)". One person came to
Rasoolullah (sallallahu alayhe wasallam) and said "I am destroyed" Rasoolullah (sallallahu
alayhe wasallam) l said "say, "your mercy is more than my sins, and I hope more from your
mercy than my good deeds" say this again, say this again. Get up and go away, you are
forgiven.""

Don't rely on your deeds, hope in the mercy of Allah. If something has happened, do turn to
Allah. Don't sit in the lap of shaytaan. Go and sit in the lap of the Rahma of Allah.

We have 99.99% chance of going to Jannah and 0.01% chance of going to hell provided we
use the tools that Allah has given us.

In the middle (of the 3rd stage states diagram) it's mixed but whats in the outer circle? It's
only blessing. This is teachings of shadhili Mashaikh.

There are different levels of ikhlaas. Hadith "If my sahabi spends grains in the way of Allah,
compared to a non sahabi spending a mountain of gold, my sahabi will be better." This was
because of their ikhlaas and yakeeb (belief).

Ikhlaas levels as he moved forwards, then if he does less Ibada, he gets more closeness.
Ikhlaas cannot come from books and seminar but from shaykh and when a person tries.

(We are not the special servants of Allah) until Allah accepts us His servant. Like a marriage
it needs acceptance by both.
One of favourite verses of Sayidina Abdul Qadir Jilani (rahimahullah) "enter my servant
amongs Jannah" here servanthood is mentioned as this is when Allah accepts the person as
His servant.

Humbleness has levels too

You will not get rid of these diseases like cancer and aids by saying "oh you shouldn't have
these diseases, they are bad" nothing will change. Nor will these evil traits.

Food inside house represents good deeds with sincerity. The greater the good deeds the
higher the nourishment and taste will feed your house of closeness. If there is food but it
doesn't have nourishment, (no benefit). Sometimes people have artificial fruit, it can't save
your Iman.

When you walk beside or through the gardens of Jannah take your share. How? They are
the gathering of Zikr and naseehah. Good deeds have a direct relationship with fruits of
Jannah.

Sayidina Abdul Azeez Dabbaagh (rahimahullah) "as soon as a person does a good deed I can
see the effect in his paradise and the same for hell."

Some people are empty of food, they will eventually die and become sick. If they're not
doing good deeds their Iman will become rotten. Some have invited shaytaan in to eat all
their good deeds away. Some do good deeds not for right reasons, there foods are rotten.

Hadith "If someone wants to be my neighbour, any woman whose husband dies and she
takes care of her orphans and saves them from difficulty, me and this woman will be
neighbours (in paradise)"

Watch this video so you realise how much an orphan needs help.

This is part of tareeq to have compassion on creation. Greater is to save them from Hell but
this is also important .
