The effect of the order as confirmed will divert that part of public footpath PP80/36
commencing from the path to the rear of properties on Maes Ffynnon at point A (OS grid
reference SM 87599 21124). Proceeding north to grid reference SM 8706 2113 then north west
via two fields to finish at point B (SM 87367 21262) on Pilgrims Way and is marked on the
order map by a continuous bold black line to a line commencing from point A (SM 87599

Top beef farmer to
show how its done

for grassland quality
EFFICIENT family farming will come
under the microscope at an open day of
the Farmers Weekly beef farmer of the
year next week.
Visitors to Lan Farm, Cymwyl Elfed,
Carmarthen, will have the opportunity
to find out how Phil Jones and his fam-
ily secured the award with their 110
head block calving suckler herd com-
prising Welsh Black cross Limousin
cows put to high index Charolais bulls
on their 172ha organic upland unit.
Organised by the Royal Association
of British Dairy Farmers, the day will
include a series of presentations to help
improve suckler herd performance and
efficiency. SRUCs Ian Pritchard will ex-
plain the use of EBVs in cattle breeding
decisions, the farms vet, Helen Scott,
will explain the role of health planning,
consultant Dr Delana Davies will dis-
cuss improving nutrition, and IBERS
Heather McCalum will focus on how to
improve herd nutrition.
RABDF Events Sian Mercer said:

ample of how paying close attention
to key management areas can improve
both performance and profitability. We
are pleased to organise an open day,
enabling him to showcase this progres-
sive farm and in turn encourage other
producers to be similarly inspired.
A PEMBROKESHIRE farmer
has been announced as the
runner-up in a prestigious
grassland competition.
Gethin Brown, of Garden
Lodge, Stackpole Quay, Pem-
broke, is the runner-up of the
All Wales Grassland Manage-
ment Competition, sponsored
by HSBC. Mr Brown, a mem-
ber of Cleddau Grassland
Society, manages 600 acres
with 550 crossbred dairy herd
plus followers, and maxim-
ises milk from grazed grass
through a very well managed
grazing regime achieved by
forward thinking grass meas-
uring methods and attention
to detail to minimise costs.
The winners were Dafydd
and Glenys Jones, of Maesll-
wyni, Penegoes near Machyn-
lleth.

numbers in the lamb section this week,
but unfortunately the lamb trade has
seen a signiicant drop in price over the

outcome, with leaner sorts selling for less,
