At the end of the lesson, students should be able to:
1. Identify the type and function of preposition correctly by
pasting the flashcard on the board.
2. Fill in the blank the paragraph given based on the picture with
the correct preposition.
3. Write complete sentence based on the picture by using
suitable preposition

Contents 1. Preposition of place: in, on, in front, between, behind, under,
next to
2. The functions of each preposition according to position:

Values

1. Loving the family.
Prior Knowledge

Students have learned the following items in previous classes:
1. The Subject- Verb- Agreement
2. Simple Sentence
Instructional Aids Pictures, manila card, handouts.
Set Induction
Firstly students will be shown with a picture of the family and
students will be asked about their families interests or hobbies and
how they appreciate their family. Then, teacher will lead to the days
lesson which is about Family Ties and state the topic which is
preposition.
Content
Development

1. Students are shown with the pictures of the house that
contained the different position of family members. Different
position bring different preposition of place.
2. Teacher explains deeply about the functions of preposition.

3. Students are divided into 5 groups.
4. Each group is given two different sentences about preposition.
5. Students are assigned to draw the pictures on the manila card
based on the sentences given.
6. Each group sends one representative to present and explain
their pictures drawing. Teacher will give feedback and discuss
the pictures with the students. (Evaluation of Learning
Outcome 1)
7. In pair, students are given the handouts that contain an
incomplete paragraph.
8. Students are asked to complete the paragraph by fill in the
blank with the correct preposition.
9. Students will be called randomly by the teacher to write their
answer at the whiteboard. Teacher will give feedback and
discuss the pictures with the students (Evaluation of Learning
Outcome 2).
10. Students are given handouts that contain pictures.
11. Students are asked to write a complete sentence below
each picture by using appropriate prepositions.
12. Teacher will ask students randomly to write the answer on the
whiteboard. Teacher gives feedback (Evaluation of Learning
Outcome 3)
13. Teacher inculcates the values of loving the family.

Conclusion
1. Students are asked about what they have learned through the
lesson
2. Teacher restates the type of preposition of place and its
function.
3. Teacher reemphasizes the value of loving the appreciating the
family.

Extended Work

Students are asked to form a short essay with 50 words relating to
their family by using at least 5 types of prepositions of place that they
have learned in the class.

Activity 1
In a group of five, students are asked to draw the pictures based on sentences given.
Each group will be given two sentences.

1. My father is repairing his car in the workshop
2. Ahmad is watering the plants behind his house.

5. My cat is sleeping under a table, near the television, which is next to the cupboard.
6. My sister is standing between my brother and my cat.

10. My mother is riding behind my father on the motorcycle.

Activity 2
Based on the picture, complete the paragraph using the words below. Some words can be
used more than once.


Father wanted to buy me a new watch for my birthday. So, we went to the shopping

one. Suddenly, we realized that my youngest sister, Zalina, was missing. We were
worried.
