ViperJet LXR Overview
Imagine flying at 400 knots, flight level 280, for 1000 nautical miles…all in
pressurized comfort. Imagine no more. It is possible in the ViperJet LXR.
The ViperJet LXR, tandem seat personal jet manufactured by Viper Aircraft
Corporation has been designed for the pilot that needs personal jet transportation at
an affordable cost. The ViperJet LXR has a state of the art glass cockpit, dual
controls and a fuel efficient Pratt & Whitney (P&W) JT15D turbofan engine.
Viper Aircraft was able to use all of the same flight proven components and composite
airframe parts as the popular ViperJet MK II Executive with a few changes to existing
fuselage tooling. The ViperJet LXR was created by lengthening the fuselage by 2 feet,
adding 2 ½ inches to the cockpit depth which significantly widened the cockpit in
areas allowing more comfort for pilot and passenger. Additionally, the engine bay and
plenum/nacelle structures were bolstered in strategic areas to accept the time-tested
P&W JT15D-1A turbofan engine.
To meet the needs of 21st century corporate travel or sport flying the LXR employs
very simple systems thereby significantly reducing required maintenance. The
ViperJet LXR airframe is engineered to meet or exceed FAR 23 standards and includes
Frise ailerons, and other refinements that produce a safe and easy to fly aircraft.
Revised avionics and modified cockpit ergonomics are also employed.
THE RESULT: an aircraft with performance on par with the ViperJet MK II, yet using
half the fuel and providing a more spacious cockpit.

ViperJet LXR Specifications
A properly designed personal aircraft should be able to carry the pilot and passenger
with speed, efficiency and a minimum of fuss. Furthermore, the ability to fly
distances in excess of 1000 nm reduces overall fuel consumption and pilot fatigue.
The figures in Table 1 below indicate the superior capabilities of the ViperJet LXR. By
adding the optional tip tanks to the aircraft, the range of the LXR approaches 1500
nm with reserves.

† True control wheel steering means that upon release of the control wheel switch, the system synchronizes to the
direction of flight and vertical speed, in units with vertical speed select. This is the only multi-servo autopilot
system available with this feature.

Turbofan Power
The ViperJet LXR is powered by a single Pratt & Whitney JT15D-1A turbofan engine. The
engine provides an average of 2200 lbs of static thrust.
Operators of JT15D engines are supported by P&W’s industry-leading global customer support.
This includes over 30 P&W-owned and designated service facilities around the world, more
than 100 field support representatives on all major continents, a 24/7 Customer First Centre
for rapid expert support, the most advanced diagnostic capabilities for this market and the
largest pool of P&WC rental and exchange engines in the industry.
The JT15D is a two-spool engine with only six rotating components, a single-stage high
pressure centrifugal compressor driven by a single-stage high pressure turbine and a single-
stage low pressure turbine driving a robust fan with wide-chord blades and compressor boost
stage. A high efficiency reverse-flow combustor ensures low emissions and fuel consumption.
The success of the engine with respect to its impressive durability level of higher than 10,000
hours between overhauls was a major reason for selecting this same core to power the
PW901A APU on the Boeing 747-400. In fact, the JT15D-based PW901A has also become the
benchmark in the APU industry for durability and reliability.

Cost of Operation
The ViperJet LXR is one of the most efficient aircraft on the market with its low
hourly direct cost of operation at under $300.00 per hour--just think that’s $ .67 per
nautical mile or $ .34 per seat mile.
Let’s examine a typical flight from Los Angeles, CA (Santa Monica Municipal Airport-
KSMO) to Denver, CO (Centennial Airport-KAPA) a trip of 733 nautical miles:
Start engine, get clearance and taxi to the active runway, taking 20 minutes
and using 7 gallons of fuel until takeoff;
Take off and climb unrestricted to FL280 (5,000 fpm average) taking
approximately 6 minutes and using 12 gallons of fuel;
Cruise 660 miles at 400 KTAS taking 1 hour and 40 minutes, and using 128
gallons of fuel;
Descend the remaining 50 miles (2,000 fpm average) at 250 KTAS taking 12
minutes and using an additional 12 gallons of fuel;
Taxi to the Executive Terminal taking 15 minutes and using an additional 5
gallons of fuel.
Summary of Flight:
As you can see from this example, the ViperJet LXR provides a very quick and
economical way to fly.
