GO AHEAD, SHINE

Do everything without complaining or arguing, so that you may become

blameless and pure, children of God without fault in a crooked and depraved
generation, in which you shine like stars in the universe as you hold out the word
of life (Philippians 2: 14 16a)
The funny thing about studying the stars is that you have to be able to
calculate, distances, luminosity, and many more fancy terms.
Before I came to know Christ, all that nadir gazing did produce one substantial
result in me: deep, deep emptiness. You cant help but feel how small you are
when you peer into the infinite-seeming inkiness of space. The more you see
how incomprehensibly expansive everything really is, the more you feel speck-
like in the cosmic order. The weight of eternity came crashing in on me.
And in that darkness, I needed light. This crooked depraved man groped
about for anything that would shine, some embers of hope. Not finding them in
philosophy, books or even astronomy, the pressure got worse.
Of course I wouldnt have put it in those terms back then. At that point I just
knew something was messed up, and I couldnt figure out what. I needed the
word of life. But I didnt know where to find it. Thats where we Christians come
in. The world needs to see the stars around them who shine through their Jesus
emulating behavior. The light of Jesus has the power to both expose their
blindness and help them see. So, shine. People like the old me is counting on it!

RIGHTEOUSNESS EXALTS

The word righteous, according to
the dictionary, means acting in
accord with divine or moral law.
Self-righteous means being
convinced of ones own
righteousness, especially in
contrast with the beliefs of others.
Self-righteous people often
ignore principles such as the Ten
Commandments and act according
to their own self-created
standardor no standards at all.
Self-righteousness is an attitude,
as well, causing people to feel
morally superior to others.
The Bible says, Righteousness
exalts a nation, but sin is a
reproach to any people (Proverbs
14: 34, NRSV).

ANNOUNCEMENTS AND INFORMATION

Todays toy is the Crayon. God created people of
different color and languages to help us spread
throughout the world, but more often than not, we let
color divide us. In spite of our differences, we all share
the same Creator. God wants us to love our neighbor,
and our neighbor is anyone and everyone, no matter
who they are or what color they are. He answered,
Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with
all your soul and with all your strength and with all your
mind; and, Love your neighbor as yourself. Luke
10:27. Thank You for supporting the Russellville
Church of God Childrens Ministries.

Your worst days are never so bad that you are beyond
the reach of Gods grace. And your best days are
never so good that you are beyond the need of Gods
grace

Pastor Jonathons Word of The Week
In Joshua 1: 9, God clearly instructs us to
remember the importance of staying strong when
going into battle. In fact, He commands us to be:
Have I not commanded you? Be strong and
courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be
discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with
you wherever you go.

You need to find a deep dependence to follow
after God Himself. Let Him take your hand and
Stand with you. From that cracked open-heart, a
God-breathed strength will rise and help you to
declare to Satan, You picked the wrong one to
mess with this time.
Dear Lord, Im asking for your strength to fill me
and my weak places today. Facing these difficult
moments are sometimes crippling, but I know I
can overcome all things through Your power
within me. Help me to see this hard time as an
opportunity to grow closer to you. In Jesus Name,
Amen! (Copied)
