Montage
Description: A inspirational Montage containing a quote,
picture, and signature of Michael Jordan.

Date: June 1, 2014

Course/Instructor: Com 130/ Julie Peterson
Programs/Tools: Photoshop
Objective: Utalize PhotoShop to create a motivational image
by inserting three different and editing them through the layers

Process: I found these three images and quote online after

I got the idea to focus on one of my childhood heros. I then
sized the background to 8.5 by 11, after which I turned the
color image of the stadium to a black and white picture. I inserted the picture of Jordan on the right side and faded him
into the background and did the same with the signature.. All
of this was done with a lasso tool, paint brush and text boxes
in PhotoShop.

Logo
Description: Three different logos for a fake company by
the name of Court Apparel.

Date: June 7, 2014

Course/Instructor: Com 130/ Julie Peterson
Programs/Tools: Adobe Illustrator
Objective: Use the tools provided by Illustrator to create a
variety of logos that fit the personality of a company.

Process: I used Illustrator to create three similar, but different logos for a fictional company. I found a basic logo that
I wanted to incorporate into all of the logos, then added different aspects to each of them. For the first one I used the
general logo style and put a capital C around a basketball. I
used the pen tool to create the basketball in the background
as well as the lace design in the third and the center court
mark in the second. I also used the unique stroke tool to add
effect to the third design.

Business
Card
Description: Business cards designed for a fake company.
Date: June 16, 2014
Course/Instructor: Com 130, Julie Peterson
Programs/Tools: Adobe InDesign
Objective: Generate a logo that fits the personality of a company, Design the layout and create a front and back.

Process: I first sought inspiration by searching for creative

ways to organize business cards as well as a simple but elegant letter head. After I chose a direction I went into Illustrator, created two 3.5 by 2 inch boxes in which to place the
business card designs. I then developed a general logo for
the company I was working with and applied it to the business
card as well as the letter head. I created a watermark in the
lower lefthand corner of the letter, and applied the logo to the
mp3 player design on the front of the business card.

Photodesign
Description: Use quality photography skills as well as editing
and incorporating color schemes to generate a tasteful piece.

Date: May 25, 2014

Course/Instructor: Com 130, Julie Peterson
Programs/Tools: Adobe Illustrator
Objectives: Combine a photo with a quote as well as an appealing color scheme.
Process: I decided that I would use a theme of music, I
placed my headphones on my guitar, used natural light, and
lead to generate the best picture possible. I used a Tetradic
color scheme. Once I had my picture I uploaded it to photoshop and began to enhance it by sharpening it, changing the
color saturation, the levels, and saturation. I used the burn
tool to make the black stand out and the eyedropper tool to
make the colors from the picture match the colors placed in
the piece. The focus is pushed to the right side of the page, I
placed the colors and quote to that side.

Event Ad
Description: A very action oriented flier promoting a fund
raising concert made from Microsoft Word and a scanner.

Date: May 18, 2014

Course/Instructor: Com 130, Julie Peterson
Programs/Tools: Microsoft Word, High quality scanner
Objectives: Find an image, Scan it, Apply it as a full bleed
image, Insert text and designs

Process: I first found an image with good quality from the

internet, printed the image on a picture quality printer, then
scanned it. I then added the picture to Microsoft Word and
sized it to place the man in the bubble in the top right corner. I then used the format image tool to soften the image to
have it work more as white space in the flier. To add repetition I added in the arrows to hold the information regarding
the event and faded them to draw attention to the middle of
the piece. I placed an X behind the title to utilize the rule of
odds with shapes as well as color usage.

Web Site
Description: Website designed to display my created logo
Date: July 1, 2014
Course/Instructor: Com 130, Julie Peterson
Programs/Tools: Text Wrangler, Adobe InDesign
Objectives: Insert a logo based on the logo project from earlier, generate a website using html and CSS that displays the
qualities and personality of the company.

Process: I utilized TextWrangler to write the html and CSS

code. I had zero experience in writing any sort of code, so all
of this was new to me. It was interesting to learn how web
pages are made, and the work that goes into making they
function the way they do. I relied pretty heavily on a website
entitled w3schools to learn about the codes needed to customize the webpage. After the html code was properly written, I linked the code to a CSS document in order to apply
the code to all other links. I added in a custom background,
changed up the fonts, added shadows to titles as well as the
body box, and adjusted the colors to match the logo.

Brochure
Description: A two sided brochure designed to inform customers about services

Date: July 12, 2014

Course/Instructor: Com 130, Julie Peterson
Programs/Tools: Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, and PhotoShop

Objectives: Create a two sided brochure that displays information and images in a creative way.

Process: I began creating a layout on InDesign then filling it

with images doctored in PhotoShop and Illustrator. I decided I
wanted the front of the brochure to be the outline of a Nissan
GTR and have the top flap shaped to that. Under the wheels
will be the company logo as well as the main product that we
focus on. On the inside is information regarding the company as well as two more images that display how the product
is applied as well as what the finished product can look like.
Once I gathered all of this information I began to organize all
of it into what I believe to be a very simple and elegant design.

Flier
Description: Black and white flier designed to invite audience to attend a graduate leadership conference.

Date: May 11, 2014

Course/Instructor: Com 130, Julie Peterson
Programs/Tools: Adobe InDesign
Objectives: Utalize knowledge of InDesign to create an informative flier regarding a leadership conference.

Process: I created sketches to aid me in the creation of my

InDesign layout. I used sharp and angled lines to draw the
readers eyes to the pertinent information. I faded from dark
to light in the sections that contained shading to add to the
contrast. I left white space throughout the piece as to provide the reader with adequate rest.
