ANNOUNCEMENTS
Ecclesiastes - The Search for Meaning - This August, please join us at Cedar Church as we wrestle with the meaning of life as 'it really is!' What do we do when work seems so tedious, life is unfair, fools get ahead, nothing makes us happy, old age treats us with cruelty, and our eventual death seems so depressing? The Preacher hopes to answer that question by looking at the futility of life fromGod's high and wise perspective. Pastor Steve invites you to jump feet-first into life's most knotty questions as we travel through the twelve winding and circuitous chapters of the Book of Ecclesiastes.

MISSIONS UPDATE
Below is the most recent update from Ben VanDyke, serving on summer project with Spartan Christian Fellowship in Petoskey, MI.
Dear Cedar Church family
Thank you for your continued prayer and support, I've seen firsthand how God has been answering prayer here at project and I have the joy of telling you how Hes been working! The biggest answer to prayer is one guy named Andrew Maxwell becoming a Christian. His older brother is a former MSU quarterback who spoke at SCF one night just before the year ended, and Andrew was there filming. A staff guy met with him later that week and as a result he decided to come to project. At the time Andrew didn't really understand himself to be a sinner and more than that didn't understand the gospel. But this project has been the means by which he has not only heard the gospel but has come to love and cherish it. It blows my mind to see the immediate change in his life, just this week I was evangelizing with him and he not only was able to share the gospel but he was eager to do it! It has given me inexpressible joy that I can call this guy a brother in Christ.
Another way that prayer has been answered has been in the leadership and teaching here. The staff left two weeks ago and since then I have been in charge along with another MSU student named Darcy Shepard. Things have gone remarkably smoothly and all the students really enjoy each others company. The teaching especially has been sanctifying, and its served to make me very aware of my own insufficiency and my dependence on God. I could honestly give the best talk in the world but I know that if God wasn't there working then it wouldn't help anybody. In actuality I feel like every time I walk up to the podium I feel as though what I have is mediocre at best, but through it God has not only encouraged me but has really used it to serve everyone else. More and more I've been realizing that anything good that comes from us is really from God (Ephesians 2:10).
Please continue to be in prayer for us. Pray for Halea, another student here who is not a Christian. She recently lost her uncle to suicide so please pray that through this experience she would come to love the gospel and be comforted by it just as Andrew has. Pray also for Ross who lost his mom to cancer, and for the other students I mentioned in the last update. Many of us are starting to feel burned out because of the intenseness of project, please pray that we would find our strength and our rest in the gospel. Finally pray for our evangelism, that many of our friends and co-workers would hear, and trust in the gospel themselves.
Thank you for your love and for your support! In Christ -Ben
