RUFFLED APRON WOMENS PATTERN IN ONE SIZE YARDAGE REQUIRED: MAIN: 1 yard LINING: 1/2 ACCENT: 1/3 Difculty: Easy! Rufes take a little patience, but I have no doubt that you will make an adorable apron! Lightweight cotton is recommended. before you start: Prewash all fabrics. Use a 3/8 seam allowance unless otherwise noted. Suggested Fabric: printing and cutting Print out the pattern pieces on pages 19-26 at 100% on 8.5 by 11 or A4 paper. Pages will overlap. Cut and tape together. To save paper, the skirt piece does not have a pattern piece. Measurements are show below for the skirt. You will have the following: -1 main bodice -1 lining bodice -1 main skirt -4 main straps -4 lining straps -1 accent neckline rufe -1 accent pocket straps Step 1: Lay out your strap pieces. Youll have one main piece and one lining piece. Step 2: Lay the two pieces right sides together. Sew around the two long edges and one short end. Step 3: Clip corners and turn strap right side out. One end will be open. Repeat for all straps. Step 4: Center strap pieces on the top shoulder seam of the main apron bodice piece. The right sides of the main fabric will be together. Stitch on. Also sew on the lower back straps at the side seams. neckline ruffle Step 5: Fold under 1/2 on the bottom edge of the rufe piece. Press and fold under another 1/2. Sew at 3/8. Step 6: Repeat the same process of folding, pressing and then sewing on the short edges. Step 7: Run 2 baste stitches along the top edge at 1/4 and 1/2. Then lay lining face down on top piece and sew all the edges except the bottom. Step 10: Trim seam allow- ance and clip curves. Then turn right side out. Step 11: On the skirt piece, fold under 1/2 and press. skirt Step 12: Repeat and stitch at 3/8 Step 13: Fold under 1/2 on both sides and press. Fold under 1/2 again and press again. Then sew at 3/8. Step 14: (a) Baste along the curved edge of the pocket at 3/8. (b) Use the stitching to help you press over 3/8 of the bottom edge. Press (c). Fold top over 1/2 and press. Fold over another 3/4 and press. Step 15: Stitch top of pocket edge at 5/8. Step 216 Sew on to apron. Step 14: (a) Baste along the curved edge of the pocket at 3/8. (b) Use the stitching to help you press over 3/8 of the bottom edge. Press (c). Fold top over 1/2 and press. Fold over another 3/4 and press. Step 17: Sew two or three rows of baste stitching at the top of the skirt piece. Step 18: Pull the fabric to gather the skirt. Step 19: Pull the threads and even out the gatheres until the skirt top matches up to the bottom of your apron bodice piece. Step 20: Match up bottom edge of bodice and top edge of skirt and pin together. Sew and fnish seam allowance however you want. ta-da! 1 This pattern was designed to be easily customizable.
