On the Cult of the Dead

The initiation is on both sides guarded by death.
Aleister Crowley

The Sovereign Grand Master Absolute of OTOA, Courtney Willis, pointed out so excellently
death is the end of personal time, so to live in this death realm
1
is to experience beginning of
eternity and enter a god realm.
2

The Cult of Dead is, therefore, Cult of Eternity, of true Reality beyond the illusion of life and
death as we falsely perceive them here on Earth, from our limited human points of view.

According to chief doctrine of Ekklesia Gnostica Pneumatica, that the spiritual, non-
physical nature of Man is the basis of all Reality, life is essentially an illusion. It doesnt
mean it does not exist. It is there. But life is not what we think it is, it is not truly how it
appears to be. It appears to be a substance, matter, subject to a number of physical laws,
animated by energy, which is usually understood as a subtler form of matter. However,
according to our metaphysics, which should be more carefully expounded in some other
paper, all matter, energy, space and time are only those aspects of the Pleroma of
Monads, or God, that we didnt accept or experienced in its fullness, remaining blinded
and in state of ignorance of its true nature.

Another way of saying this is that the way we perceive and experience life and existence
is actually the state of our relationship with God, with non-physical reality that underlies
the illusion of Universe. It is not existence in itself; life is not separate from us. We could
say that WE are life or we could say there is NO life really both statements are
equally pointing to the same truth.

In this way, death is no less illusion than life. Reality, true reality, Divine realm, is
beyond life and death.

Contemplation of death is the safest and fastest way for dissolving illusions of everyday
existence. However, people are addicted to their senses, their passions addicted not
only to their body, but also to feelings, sensations, mind and awareness and none of
that is really us. We are not awareness. We are ABLE to be aware. We are not mind. We
HAVE mind etc. Unaware of our genuinely non-physical and unspeakable nature of
sunjata, experience and knowledge of which is TRUE Gnosis, people are worried and
afraid of death because they are not ready to give up on their attachments, attachments to
their bodies, and feelings, and sensations, and thoughts, and awareness, and existence,
attachment to their I or ego, which is equally an illusion in Truth, there is no I.

Therefore, all the gods of humanity that were leading the way towards Eternity were actually
gods of Death!

One modern initiate of Hindu tantric gnosis, Yogeshwar Muni (1929-2007), was saying
that when you got the first modern man, about a hundred and seventy-five thousand years
ago, according to anthropologists and paleontologists, because of his prefrontal cortex
capacity he cared about the quality with which he lived life, not just the material quality.
He cared about how happy and fulfilled he was. He cared about the spiritual qualities of
life.
This stage was, in Yogeshwars words, the beginning of religion. And as religious
teaching was formed, the religious knowledge, or knowledge how to live, and what life
actually is, it was passed on from one generation to the next, in that way forming what is
called a lineage of teaching.
Mother or father teaches child, child teaches its child, and so on. Whether these are
genetic children or spiritual children doesnt matter, Yogeshwar says. Along about
thirty-six to thirty-eight thousand years ago, this passing on of religious knowledge had
been going on for about a hundred and forty or a hundred and fifty thousand years. It had
begun to build up, very slowly at first, but more rapidly later on.
Yogeshwar went on to say that there was a first individual, first person in history of Earth
who took all that knowledge from the past and decided to apply all that one hundred
percent, to practice and live according to the spiritual lore. He made some progress, and
some more progress, and eventually was the first being to achieve enlightenment, to find
out who and what he really was.
It was important that his body was included in the process too. His body evolved as the
result of lifes evolutionary energy developing freely in the body, and evolving it in the
direction of further perfection. His body evolved into a pure, divine, spiritual stage, where
he attained the divine body, as legend says Jesus had at the resurrection, or a number of
Buddhists, Taoists and others
There is a similar, or identical, view in our School of Gnosis. Michael Bertiaux writes in
his lesson on The Dynamics of Esoteric Gnosis

that we reincarnate many times
because the life and experience of the body is so important. If a body is imperfect now,
next time it will be more towards the perfect, until it finally becomes a perfect picture of
the divine dimensions of being. When this happens, we are faced with pure reality and
truth and we are able to understand what is meant by saying that we are made in the
image of the divine ones.
Yogeshwar continued to say that at this stage he could reincarnate into a flesh and blood
body when he wanted. Sometimes he did, and when he did it, it was called an incarnation,
an avatara.
In his novel Return to Shangri-La, published privately for an inner circle of disciples,
Yogeshwar told a story of Hugh Conway returning to Shangri-La and dedicating himself

to yoga of surrender (Natural Yoga), until he experienced final liberation and achieved
divine body (in some Tibetan traditions also called rainbow body). Yogeshwar went on
to explain in detail different stages of that transformation, as practitioners life energy,
which is sexual energy, purified more and more, and get transubstantiated. At one point,
after the achievement of the divine body, Hugh was often seen naked, sitting in
meditation, with his penis in constant erection. That curiosity Yogeshwar explained in his
novel through the mouth of one of the characters:
In the later stages of surrender ones heart is so open that one does not want to close
down an iota of the flow of that love. This includes the sexual energy. It is like being at
the timeless instant between being on the brink of orgasm, and beginning to orgasm, but
the orgasm never comes because there are no remaining impurities mental, emotional,
or physical. When one has nearly finished ones surrender, the entire body is like the
genitals at the moment of discontinuity.
We may freely assume that the first individual on Earth that achieved liberation, the one
that Yogeshwar spoke about, could be remembered in the spiritual lore of mankind as a
phallic deity, his constantly erect phallus being his spiritual mark par excellence. Also,
that individual would be remembered as the one who conquered death, or even the Lord
of Death himself.
I want to speculate here that the original home of that first Liberated One was in what we
know today as Africa, that he was of black race, and that we know Him today under the
name of GHUEDHE, a phallic Lord of Dead.
GHUEDHE is the primal one who achieved divine body on Earth; he is the phallic Lord
of Liberation, God of Death, as he is beyond the illusion of life and death. His devotees
are corpses (Zombi) as they died for the illusion of the world, and surrendered fully to the
Absolute. In Haitian lore he is dressed as undertaker, and resides in graveyards, as he
wanted to remind us at all times: Life is transient. It is not real. There is eternity, and
that is where I am taking you
However, there is no doubt that this Liberated One incarnated and taught humans many
times in the history, in different places, and that is why he was known under many names
and guises, in different cultures and times. SHIVA was one of those names.
For the end of this short discourse, let us light a black candle and strong, sweet incense,
enjoy a dark rum, dark beer or strong black coffee and meditate on GHUEDHE and his
gifts to us. Let GHUEDHE helps us wipe the dust of illusion from our eyes and surrender
fully to the Absolute, God, Eternal Love, and Reality which is Truth...
