Women are the makers of the home, the nation and the world.
You are the mothers who shape the generation. So you
must enshrine in your hearts the spiritual urge towards
light and love, wisdom and Bliss.
Baba
Swamis darshan. Swami appeared near the arch, raised His
hands in a blessing gesture and announced, Visa granted.
Only our family knew that it was meant for us. My son is
still working in the US by Swamis grace.
Swami blessed my husband with a gold ring with a
green stone and said this is for your protection. The very
next day my husband was bitten by a big dog, and that ring
saved him.
Once, in the Ashram I was standing near the Saraswathi
statue and Swami was talking to my husband. Swamy came
near me and said, You want padanamaskar? Do it any
number of times. He asked me, You want me to come
to your house, when you want me to come? Suddenly it
fashed that 31st January 1980 was my husbands birthday;
luckily it was full moon day also. We requested Swamy to
come on that day.
Swami came in His car with three students at about 6 pm
in the evening. We received him with Poorna Kumbham, and
arathi. Swami came and sat on the decorated chair. We had
a small gathering, had few bhajans. Swami went inside our
pooja room, did arathi, recited Meenakshi Ashtakam and said,
You must ring the bell of your heart, not this metal one.
Swami asked me Which God you worship? I said, All
Gods. Swami materialized a pair of small silver padukas
and said, You do abhisheka and take that thirtha every day.
He blessed my daughter Roopa with a silver coin that had
Swami on one side and OM on the other. Swami blessed my
son and others with vibhuthi.
We wanted Swami to have dinner in our house. He ate

SWAMI DECIDES EVERYTHING
A. Ramamurthy
I heard about Bhagavan Sri Sathya Sai Baba for the frst
time in the beginning of nineteen sixties, but at that time it
was just news to me. However, after my marriage in 1965, my
wife brought with her photographs of Baba, which occupied a
prominent place in our pooja room. Subsequently one of my
colleagues at my work place lent me a long playing record
of Babas bhajans sung in Bhagavans own voice which
interested me and drew my attention.
During the late 1970s I took up a job in Chandigarh and
spent a few years there. My regular visits to the Sai Centre
in the Technical Teachers Training Institute and attendance
at Bhajans gave me enormous peace and happiness.
When we shifted our residence from New Delhi to
Bangalore in 1995 little did I realize that I was being drawn
closer towards Bhagavan. As we settled down in our new
fat in Malleswaram we found that Swamis activities were
regularly taking place at Malleswaram Samithi at the Vidya
Mandir school, which was diagonally opposite to our
building. The then Convenor, Dr.Lakshman Rao was our
neighbour. We started attending the bhajans regularly. A few
months later, the samithi moved to its present location and
we continued our association. Whenever Bhagavans arrival
at Brindavan was announced in the samithi, we would plan
and go for His darshan.
A few years later, the construction of Sri Sathya Sai Super
63 BLOSSOMS AT THE LOTUS FEET
Speciality Hospital started at Whitefeld. An announcement
was made in the Samithi about the requirement of volunteers
every week-end for various activities at the construction
site. I started visiting the site regularly offering my services.
This was a unique experience to fnd and appreciate that the
involvement of volunteers, although playing a small part,
was an inspiring and useful contribution in a mammoth
construction project designed by Bhagavan for the welfare of
the people of the country. This reminded me of the happening
in the Ramayana, namely noble contributions by the squirrels
to the construction of the bridge across the ocean to Lanka
during Bhagavans avatar as Sri Rama.
The opportunity provided by Bhagavan for us to do seva
at the project site, created an awareness of the presence of
Divinity at every stage. We could watch the speed at which
the project progressed - which would not be possible by
mere human effort of the engineers and labourers working.
Bhagavan used to visit the project site regularly and His
very presence would miraculously impart inspiration and
momentum to the pace of construction. I hold very dear
to my heart, my seva during the construction period of the
hospital.
By Bhagavans grace, during my seva at the construction
site, I came into contact with the then Brindavan Sevadal
Coordinator, Sri T.S.Venkatraman, indeed a wonderful
person, so full of humility and love for every one. He was
instrumental in bringing me into the sevadal fold. Since
my joining sevadal coincided with the construction of the
Super Specialty Hospital, plenty of opportunities opened up
to do seva at His Lotus feet. Swami used to visit Brindavan
frequently and stay for long periods energizing those engaged
in the project, with the fow of divine vibrations.
On the day I was to receive my scarf, I was asked to sit
near the aisle which provided me with the opportunity to
have Bhagavans Padanamaskar. I felt that the beginning
of my seva activity was auspicious. During the same week,
on another day, I was allotted duty at the Trayee gate. I was
standing all alone near the wall outside the Trayee gate,
awaiting Bhagavans Divine appearance for the morning
darshan. Bhagavan emerged from the Trayee Gate and was
proceeding towards Sai Ramesh hall. All of a sudden He
turned and walked towards me. I was dumbstruck for a while,
but soon realized that I was all alone there and that Bhagavan
was approaching me only. He came very near to me with a
beautiful smile. He spoke to me in Kannada What is your
name? I answered Ramamurthy From where have you
come? from Malleswaram. Before that, from where did
you come? from New Delhi. Very good. Bhagavan then
raised His right hand. All this happened so suddenly, I was
stunned, turned blank, without knowing how to react. As He
was bringing down his hand, I held out my right hand, He
placed his palm on my palm, pressed it and that remained
there for a while.
This is an unforgettable experience which would remain
evergreen in my memory. My wife was sitting on the bench
on the ladies side and was a spectator to all the action. After
the darshan, the frst thing she asked me was why I had not
bowed my head and received Bhagavans blessings when he
had raised His hand!
On another occasion, while doing duty at the Trayee gate,
during lunch hour I was alone. As no replacement sevadal
came, I could not go for lunch. I knew that the canteen would
be closing shortly. I resigned myself to forgo lunch and
continue my duty. Lo and behold, a person emerged from
inside Trayee and told me Bhagavan has asked you to have
lunch inside Trayee I was totally nonplussed. The realization
dawned on me that the Omnipresent and Omniscient
Bhagavan takes care of everybody at all times. I followed
the messenger, entered Trayee from the back side, and inside,
a most tasty lunch was awaiting me, the like of which I had
never tasted. It was a very moving experience to note the
compassion and care of Swami for the sevadal member,
who was about to miss his lunch.
On another day I was doing duty at Elephant Gate.
Swami came in Car for darshan and after taking a round of
Sai Ramesh Hall the car came out from near the hostel and
turned towards Trayee. While passing the Elephant Gate,
Swami stopped the car, blessed me with His beautiful smile
and then moved on.
With Bhagavans blessings I continued my sevadal duties
at Brindavan and the Super Specialty Hospital. Bhagavans
visit and stay at Brindavan inspired me to come for seva
almost every day. Seva exposed me to many opportunities
to have access to darshan of Swami.
At this stage, I was asked to take over as Convenor of
Malleswaram Samithi. I had no inkling of any such proposal
and it came as a complete surprise. I was also not prepared

for this responsibility since I had my own misgivings about
my suitability and capacity for this position. First, my spoken
Kannada was not at all adequate to be able to manage the
Samithi. Second my resource mobilizing skills and capacity
had its own limitations for running the Samithi. When I
conveyed my apprehensions and my inability to accept the
position, the senior offce bearers of the organization would
not accept, emphasizing that my nomination was Bhagavans
will and that His helping hand would always be there for me.
Reluctantly, I agreed to try it out.
I began my convenorship hesitantly but soon realized
that I am nothing but an instrument of Bhagavan and must
surrender to Him wholly. This brought me some comfort.
Malleswaram Samithi has been facing some problems off and
on, but Bhagavan has been helping us out in continuing the
main activities without major hurdles. Couple of years later,
Bhagavan gave me additional responsibilities of a Sector
Coordinator. Here also Bhagavan was continuously guiding
me and helping me at every situation.
Malleswaram Samithi has been facing problem regarding
accommodation, now and then. Once it was felt that the
accommodation question for the Samithi might turn out to be
critical. The offce bearers decided to surrender and pray for
Bhagavans intervention. We dashed to Prashanthi Nilayam
with a letter to Swami. All of us were seated at Sai Kulwant
Hall. Bhagawan came for His evening darshan in His Mobile
throne. As He came near where we were seated, Swami with
a beautiful loving smile, stretched His hand and asked for

the letter from me. All of us felt very happy and had a great
sense of satisfaction.
During the last visit and stay of Bhagavan at Brindavan,
He gave me an opportunity to perform Arathi to Him after
the morning darshan. I remember the date precisely. It was
Thursday, 5
th
June, 2008. When our District President told
me that I would be taking the Arathi, I could not believe it.
Availing the God given chance, I took the Arathi standing
in front of Bhagavan and His eyes were mostly centered on
me and I treasure this experience.
The experiences of the last few years have taught me
that if only we repose unfinching faith in Bhagavan, He will
take care of everything. Bhagavan may have cast away His
mortal frame, but He is always here, there and everywhere
to guide us and bless us in every way.
