1)Summary/Plot

ThreewitchesdecidetoconfrontthegreatScottishgeneralMacbethonhisvictoriousreturn
fromawarbetweenScotlandandNorway.TheScottishking,Duncan,decidesthathewill
conferthetitleofthetraitorousCawdorontheheroicMacbeth,so,Macbeth,andanother
GeneralcalledBanquo,meetthethreewitches,whopredictthat,oneday,hewillturnintoaking.

Then,hedecidestomurderDuncantofindoutifthepredictionisright,andMacbeth'swife
agreestohisplan.HekillsDuncanhelpedbyhiswifewhospreadsDuncansblooodonthe
daggersofthesleepingguards.AnoblemancalledMacduffdiscoversthebodyandMacbethkills
theguardsinsistingthattheirdaggerswithDuncan'sbloodareproofthattheyareguilty.

ThecrownpassestoMacbeth.Asmoremurdersaredone,thebloodiedghostofBanquo
appearstoMacbeth.LadyMacbeth'sconsciencenowbeginstotortureherselfandsheimagines

Macbethisatimelesstaleofpoliticalintrigueinterspersedwithwitchesandbattlescenesto
entertainallofuswholikeourstorieswithadashofadventure.Thisdrama,inmyopinion,isone
ofthegreatesttragedieswrittenbyWilliamShakespeare.Thethemesillustratedintheplay
includeambition,fate,deceptionandtreachery.

Readingtheoriginalplayseemedabitdaunting,soImadeiteasierbyreadingthe
CatedrasSpanishversionofMacbethatthesametimeaswell(IhavetomentionthatIchosea
bilingualedition)

WhatImostlikeoftheplayisMacbethsfataldestiny.Hewantedeverything,hewasso
ambitious,andduetothat,hefinallylosteverything,includinghisownlife.Iwouldhavenever
expectedsuchatragicendingofthatmagnitude.IalsolovedthevocabularyShakespeareused,
ivelearnedalotofwordswhichmightimprovemyqualityasawriter.
WhatIdontlikeisthemassiveamountofirrelevantcharacters.Well,theymightbe
relevantbutsomeofthemonlyhaveasingleappearanceinthewholedrama,whichconfuses
mealotbecausenearlyeverycharacterhasitsownname,andtherearelotstoremember.

Ithinkreadingthisdramaisreallyworthit,Iwouldrecommendittoeveryonewhoisused
toreadanddoesntdecidewhichbooktochoosenext,because,inanutshell,Ithink,
ShakespearesMacbethissuchastunninglymesmerizingmustread.
