Inter Switch Link (ISL) Creation

At Smart Trust, We have created ISL between two SAN switches as customer
was running out of ports. Previously customer was running two Brocade 200E,
16 port SAN (redundant with each other) switches in their production but to add
new hosts/storages in the same VCS, some more ports were required.

Note
ISL are supported only if current Fabos Version running over SAN is 6.0.0.c, if it
is 6.1 or greater, a separate license is required to create ISL between switches.

Procedure:We have used two Silkworm 3850 SAN to create the uplink with Brocade
200E.For the same; we have upgraded Silkworm firmware version to latest one,
following procedure was used to upgrade the firmware version level.

Brocade SAN Switch Firmware Upgrade/Downgrade procedure:-

Step 1:- (Collect the logs from SAN switch)

n-sansw-01:admin > supportsave
This command will collect RASLOG, TRACE, supportShow, core file, FFDC data
and other support information and then transfer them to a FTP/SCP server or a
USB device. This operation can take several minutes.
NOTE: supportSave will transfer existing trace dump file first, then
automatically generate and transfer latest one. There will be two trace dump
files transfered after this command.

Once done with the firmware upgrade, login into Silkworm switch, delete
previous config, if any, disable the switch, and change the Domain ID to 2 or
some other value, different from that of Brocade One, enable the switch and at
last put a fiber in between the two switches (here we are using port 11)

After enabling the SAN, Switch Role will automatically change to Subordinate
, domain ID will change to desired value and port 11 will automatically become
E port (upstream).

It will start showing all the uplinked switches in the fabric summary/zone
admin window.
