LAKESHORE RECORDS PRESENTS THE BAG MAN

ORIGINAL MOTION PICTURE SOUNDTRACK

Featuring Original Music by Tony Morales and Edward Rogers

(February 26, 2014 Los Angeles, CA) Lakeshore Records will release THE BAG MAN Original
Motion Picture Soundtrack digitally and through Amazon-On-Demand on March 4, 2014. The
soundtrack features original music by Tony Morales (HATFIELDS & MCCOYS, ENEMIES CLOSER) and
Edward Rogers (WAREHOUSE 13, ALPHAS).
David Grovic, the director of the film, wanted a score that would support the mystery and offbeat color of
the various characters in the film. We also decided, collectively, to create a sound palette that was out-of-
the-box and somewhat akin to the films setting which was the swamplands of Louisiana, said Morales.

We kept the instrumentation pretty bare bones, Rogers added. It is mainly acoustic bass, guitars,
percussion and some electronics. Joshua Grange played lap steel guitar to create many of the moody
atmospheric sounds heard in the score. The specific guitar he played is called a Frying Pan guitar, which
is an antique instrument that was made by Rickenbacker in the 1930s. The tone of that specific guitar and
the masterful way in which he played it is one of the keys to the sound of the film.

Though they both have separate careers as film and television composers, Morales and Rogers have scored
three feature films and one short together. The first thing we did was to write thematic ideas based on
early creative discussion, described Morales. We then decided to go ahead and record them before
working to picture so we could see what kind of sound would develop organically. That proved to be
fruitful as our musicians were able to contribute many inspirational ideas for us to work with and develop
once we started working to picture. Rogers agreed, It really was those early sessions where the heart and
soul of the score was born.
Morales has composed numerous scores for film and television including the recently released Enemies
Closer (starring Jean-Claude van Damme), the History Channels Hatfields & McCoys for which he was
nominated for an Emmy, and upcoming projects In Your Eyes (written by Joss Whedon) and Dreamworks
Animations short Rocky & Bullwinkle, both to be released in 2014. Most recently Rogers composed the
score for the SyFy networks hit series Warehouse 13 - for which he was nominated for an Emmy - and
Alphas, as well as the upcoming feature film I Brake For Gringos. As a team they composed the scores for
Hide Away, a 2011 SXSW Film Festival Selection, and Breaking At The Edge to be released in 2014.
THE BAG MAN is a taut crime thriller that follows the story of Jack (John Cusack), a tough guy with
chronic bad luck but human touches. Hired by Dragna (Robert De Niro), a legendary crime boss to
complete a simple but unusual task, the plot centers around the anticipated arrival of Dragna who has
summoned Jack and a host of shady characters to a remote location for unknown reasons. When Dragna
finally arrives on the scene there are sudden and extreme consequences for all.

Cinedigm presents THE BAG MAN in theaters on February 28, 2014. Universal Pictures will release THE
BAG MAN March 4th on Premium VOD, I-Tunes, Amazon, Comcast Xfinity and Direct TV. THE BAG
MAN Original Motion Picture Soundtrack will be available digitally and via Amazon on Demand on
March 4, 2014.
