This test is most reIevant to work in which individuaIs must use a computer to review the definition of words and
requires a basic knowIedge of the speIIing of words in the EngIish Ianguage.
Percentage CompIete: This test calculates the "Percentage Complete" using the following method. (1) The program identifies
the total number of items responded to by the test taker during the allotted time independent of the accuracy of the response.
This number is referred to as the net number of item responses. (2) The net number of item responses is divided by the total
number of items contained in the entire test. (3) This number is multiplied by 100 to obtain a percentage score and is represented
as the overall percentage of items completed in the test.
Accuracy of SpeIIing: This test calculates the "Accuracy of Spelling Skills" using the following method. (1) The program
calculates the total number of errors in the items responded to by the test taker. (2) The program then subtracts this number
from the total number of test items completed by the test taker. (3) The resulting net correct number of items completed is
divided by the total number of items responded to during the testing session and is then multipled by 100 to obtain a percent
correct. The percent correct is the number that is expressed as "Accuracy of Spelling Skills".
Errors: This test counts the following as an error: (1) number of spaces between keyed answers, (2) the transposition of letters,
(3) an incorrectly keyed word, (4) any omitted word or word component, and/or (5) any inserted word or word component (not in
the original document).
