Conclusions:

Through visual inspection of the end colors of the known glucose concentrations and the unknown one,
we came to the conclusion that the end color of the unknown glucose concentration was closer to the
0.125% glucose concentration color.

Evaluation:
The measurements of the volumes of the concentration is one of the significant sources of errors in this
investigation, especially in the serial dilution method, if the volumes of the distilled water and the
glucose concentration goes wrong, the final concentration of the glucose will not be accurate which will
affect the whole investigation.
Another source of error would be the temperature, since we did our investigation in two batches, three
boiling tubes at a time, these boiling tubes could have placed into the water bath at slightly different
temperature, which will not make this investigation a fair one.
Another significant source of error would be the time each boiling tubes would react for after taking
them out of the water bath, as we all know the reaction does not stop immediately once you take the
boiling tubes out of the water bath, hence each batch of boiling tubes would take different time to cool
down as they were placed into the water bath which was at slightly different temperatures.
Besides the above, another source of error which will not change the results of this investigation too
much would be how different people would interpret the colors.
Improvements:
Repeating the experiment a minimum of three times would make the results more reliable. A more
accurate result would be produced when all the six boiling tubes were placed into the water bath at
exactly the same time so that they will all be in the same temperature. Also ensuring that the
temperature of the water bath remains the same throughout the five minutes of the experiment.
In addition to that, the amount of time the boiling tubes continue to react for can also be monitored,
after taking the boiling tubes out of the water bath, we can leave them for exactly a minute to cool
down during which the mixture will continue to react and then place them in cold water, to cool the
boiling tubes completely and the reaction is complete. All this should be done with the six boiling tubes
at exactly the same time to ensure that the investigation remains a fair one.
Another improvement would be using the colorimeter to determine which glucose concentrations color
matches with the unknown glucose. After the reaction, we can pipette each of the six mixtures into six
separate cuvettes and run the colorimeter, which will give us a quantities value which we can then use
to compare which color is the closest to the unknown glucose concentration. This would give us a more
accurate result as we are using quantative data to compare rather than visual inspection which can be
subjective; the saturation of the colors can vary from person to person.
