Dear Students, Families, and Friends of Marie Reed,

Hello and Saludos! I am absolutely delighted to introduce myself as your new principal.
You have created such a positive and welcoming environment at Reed that I already feel
like I am home. Thank you. !

As the newest Marie Reed Panther, I am eager to meet you and learn from you
about this special place. What do you love about the school? What do you think
should be improved? If you were in my position, what would you focus on?

To let you know a bit about myself, I grew up in Tennessee but have called DC home
since 2004. I taught elementary school in New Orleans, LA until 2004, and I worked for
the Higher Achievement Program in DC from 2004-2008. After obtaining my Masters
Degree in School Leadership, I have served as an administrator with DCPS since 2009.
I have always known my calling was to serve students and families through public
education. I believe public schools have the most important responsibility to educate all
of our children and prepare them academically and socially for a life full of opportunities.

I am so excited about the opportunities that exist for our students at Reed. Through the
dual language program, we are creating lifelong advantages for our students to become
bilingual, biliterate and multicultural. By celebrating the wide diversity of our families and
staff, we are preparing students to live with others in peace and understand how to make
connections with many different kinds of people. By focusing on a love of learning, we
are developing happy children who ask questions, stand up for what they believe in, and
strive to make the world a better place.

Throughout the summer, there will be several opportunities to meet with me and share
your ideas. Please plan to attend at least one of these opportunities. If you are unable
to attend or would prefer to meet one on one, please let me know, and we can set
something up!

Estimados Estudiantes, Familias y Amigos de la Escuela Marie Reed,

Hola y Saludos! Estoy absolutamente encantada de presentarme como su nueva
director. Ha creado un ambiente tan positivo y acogedor en la Escuela Reed que ya
ciento que estoy en casa. Gracias. !

Como la ms reciente Pantera de Marie Reed, estoy ansiosa por conocerlos y
aprender de ustedes sobre este lugar especial. Qu te gusta de la escuela? Qu
crees que debe mejorarse? Si estuvieras en mi lugar, qu hara usted o en que se
concentraran?

Para saber un poco acerca de m misma, yo crec en Tennessee, pero he llamado mi
casa a DC desde el 2004. Ense en la escuela primaria en Nueva Orleans hasta el
ao 2004, y he trabajado para el Programa de Logro Superior (Higher Achievement) en
DC desde 2004-2008. Despus de obtener mi grado de Maestra en Liderazgo Escolar,
he servido como administrador con las Escuelas Pblicas de DCPS desde el 2009.
Siempre he sabido que mi vocacin era servir a los estudiantes y sus familias a travs
de la educacin pblica. Creo que las escuelas pblicas tienen la responsabilidad ms
importante de educar a todos nuestros nios y prepararlos acadmicamente y
socialmente para una vida llena de oportunidades.

Estoy muy entusiasmada con las oportunidades que existen para nuestros estudiantes
en el Reed. A travs del programa de dual lenguaje, estamos creando ventajas para
toda la vida de nuestros estudiantes a ser bilinge, bicultural y multicultural. Con la
celebracin de la gran diversidad de nuestras familias y el personal, estamos
preparando a los estudiantes a vivir con los dems en paz y entender cmo hacer las
conexiones con muchos tipos diferentes de personas. Al centrarse en un amor por el
aprendizaje, estamos desarrollando nios felices que hacen preguntas, defender
aquello en lo que creen, y se esfuerzan por hacer del mundo un lugar mejor.

Durante todo el verano, habr varias oportunidades para reunirse conmigo y compartir
sus ideas. Por favor haga planes para asistir al menos una de estas oportunidades. Si
usted no puede asistir o si prefiere conocer a uno en uno, por favor hgamelo saber, y
podemos arreglar algo!
