Operation Panel
INDICATOR OF CORRECT DETERGENT AMOUNT
The washer weighs the laundry without any water, determines the water level
needed, and indicates the approximate amount of detergent.
This indication shows
a detergent amount
necessary for 58
liters of water.

(Approximately 4 sec.) (Indication)

If you put wet laundry into the tub, the washer indicates that more detergent is needed than for dry laundry. Adjust accordingly.
If water remains in the tub, the washer indicates the medium level. Adjust accordingly.
If you press

before starting washing, the washer does not weigh the laundry and uses the water level you have selected.

The detergent amount is indicated based on the spoon that is usually included with a pack of concentrated synthetic detergent
powder (one full spoon of detergent is 27g).
For detergent amount to be put into the tub, always follow the instructions about applicable detergent amount to water amount
indicated on the detergent package since it may greatly vary depending on the type of detergent. For details of water amount,
see section, Use of Detergent and Finish Agents. 17

as desired.

Use of Detergent and Finishing Agents

Put the detergent so that its amount does not
exceed the full level. If the detergent amount
exceeds the full level, all of the detergent may
be flown out by the siphon effect.

Liquid detergent and bleach

Gradually pour in the liquid detergent and bleach.
The detergent and bleach are automatically fed into the tub
when the water is supplied at the beginning of washing.
For powder type, put it into the synthetic detergent powder tray in the soap dispenser.
For the amount and use of bleach, follow the
instructions put on the bleach container.
Do not use bleach for clothes which may
easily discolor.
When using both detergent and bleach, use less
bleach so that the total amount of detergent and
bleach does not exceed the full level.

Concentrated synthetic
powder detergent

Softener
Gradually add softener.
The softener is automatically fed into the tub
at the beginning of the final rinsing.

Put concentrated detergent powder with a spoon

based on the
indication as reference.
If the soap dispenser is wet, this may cause the
detergent to stick. Wipe the dispenser with a dry
cloth before adding detergent powder.
One full spoon of detergent is approximately
27g or 20g or less.
Weigh detergent according to the water level
(water amount) indication. The size and standard
amount of a spoon may vary depending on the
detergent manufacturer or brand.

Since it is not easy to pour concentrated

softener (6.6 milli-liters/30 liters of water), add it
after diluted it three times with water.
For rinsing, soak rinsing is recommended.
The softener does not function efficiently if
shower rinsing is selected.
Do not leave the washer with softener in the
tub for an extended period of time, as this may
cause the softener to be solidified.

Cautions for use of detergent dispenser

The detergent and bleach are dissolved in city water and automatically fed into the tub while water is
being supplied to the washer.
If washing is started while water remains in the tub, water which usually dissolves the detergent is not supplied. In this case, put detergent and bleach directly into the tub.

Strictly observe the standard detergent amount. If too much detergent is used, bubbles may overflow and stick to electrical
parts, causing the washer to malfunction.
For detergent amount to be put into the tub, always follow the instructions about applicable detergent amount to water
amount indicated on the detergent package since it may greatly vary depending on the type of detergent.
Always use the proper detergent indicated on the labels of clothes.
In the QUICK course, decide the detergent amount while referring to the approximate amount of detergent indication, and do
not refer to the water amount and detergent volume shown in the above table when you are using the QUICK course.

When the pulsator starts

working, put soap powder
gradually in an appropriate
volume.
Operate the washer for

Put laundry into the tub,
set the water level as appropriate and start washing according to the kind
of laundry.

Dissolving hard-to-dissolve soap powder

Soap powder

Prepare lukewarm water of

about 30 C in a separate
container.
Put soap powder gradually
in an appropriate volume
while stirring the water to
make up soap liquid.
Dissolve soap powder
sufficiently so that it should
not be congested nor
granulated.

Put laundry in the tub and

start washing according
to the kind of laundry.

When the detection of wash

load isover, pour soap liquid
and proceed with washing.

Lukewarm water of 30C

WATER
LEVEL

Since soap powder remains easily on the laundry as compared to synthetic detergent, carry out
sufficient rinsing. Otherwise, it may be the cause of yellowish tinge or soapy smell.
Read the direction for use (how to dissolve treat etc.) of soap powder carefully.
If soap powder is used in an excessive volume or put directly into low-temperature water,
incompletely dissolved powder remains beneath the pulsator and it may come up to soil the
laundry.

In the case of timer washing

Since soap powder may hardly dissolve but congest, do not use it in timer washing.

How to change the position of the drain hose

Always carry out the drain hose connection before attaching the bottom
cover to the washer.

Carefully lay the washer with the front side down.

Place an appropriate
protective cloth, such as a
blanket to prevent the
washer from being
damaged.

If drained water does not flow smoothly, it will take much

time to drain out water or the washer stops its operation on

When the drain hose is inserted into the drainpipe,

Make this height shorter than 10 cm.

Remove the drain hose from the hose clamp groove

at the right side.
Never remove
this hose clamp.

Cut the hose askew.

(This makes drain water flow smoother.)

When the drain hose is short

Extend it by connecting a hose of 3 cm or more inner
diameter. The length should be less than 1.5 m.

Put the removed drain hose along the left groove

and securely fit it into the groove completely so
that it does not rub against the floor.

25

The following are not malfunctions of the

washer.
SYMPTOM

REASON

The remaining time sometimes increases or decreases.

The operating time is controlled by sensors.

An operating part is warm.

This is caused by heat radiated from the electric parts.

Noise can be heard from the city water

pipe or water supply valve.

This is caused by high pressure city water. Partly

close the water tap to an appropriate level.

Main washing suddenly stops for a while.

The washer stops for 10 sec. to supply water and detect the cloth type.

The pulsator slightly vibrates during or at

the end of washing or rinsing.

This movement prevents the laundry from piling up on

one side to reduce vibration during spin-drying.

The washer intermittently rotates at the beginning of spindrying (does not rotate at high speed immediately).

This improves water dripping and balance, and

ensures good spin-drying.

A snap-snap sound can be heard at the

beginning of spin-drying.

This sound can be heard at the beginning of spindrying depending on the type of laundry and whether
it is piled up on one side in the tub. This is caused by
spin-dry water tapping the tub and is not a problem.

Even during spin-drying operation, water

is supplied and the operation mode
changes to rinsing.
(The SPIN lamp flashes quickly.)

The safety switch is activated at start of spin-drying.

The washer automatically evens out the laundry during this time.
Leave the washer as it is and continue washing.
If the problem is not recovered, the indication E4 appears.

When shaking the tub by hand, the sound

of water splashing can be heard.

This is the sound of counterbalance water contained

in the washer which ensures good balance during
spin-drying.

The fluorescent lamp sometimes becomes

dark momentarily.

Depending on the outlet circuit used, the power voltage may drop
instantaneously when the motor is started. (If this occurs frequently, an
outlet circuit specially designed for the washer should be installed.)

Check the following before calling for

service.
SYMPTOM
CHECK POINTS

26

The washer does not

function at all.

Check that the power plug is correctly connected to the outlet.

Check whether a power failure has occurred, a fuse has blown or
breaker has tripped.

Noise is produced.

Check whether the washer is inclined or is loose. See page 21.

Check whether the laundry is piled up on one side.
Check whether there are any foreign objects such as hair-pins or coins
in the tub.

Water is not supplied.

Water is not supplied if the cover is open. Close the cover completely.

Water leaks from the

water tap.

Check whether the water tap joint or fitting is loose. See page 22.
Check whether the water tap joint is inclined or is loose.
