Arrest

This past Thursday through Saturday (July 3
rd
5
th
), the band Phish was
performing at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center. Historically speaking,
this band has a large following and the sheer volume has an effect on both
the city and the surrounding towns.

The Saratoga Springs Police Department once again teamed with the Saratoga
County Sheriffs Office and the New York State Police for a collaborative
approach to the event. Both uniformed and plain clothes officers from all 3
agencies partnered together to maintain a strong police presence in the
general area during both days.

Their purpose was to enforce vehicle and traffic laws, as well as to take a
pro-active stance against illegal narcotics that too often accompany the
event.

The results of their efforts during 2 days of the event are as follows:

Traffic tickets issued- 33

Arrests made- 47

Three individuals were charged with felony sale of control substances
during our effort and one person was arrested for misdemeanor criminal sale
of marijuana. Additionally, numerous arrests were made for possession of a
controlled substance in varying degrees (felony/ misdemeanor).


Drugs Encountered- marijuana, concentrated cannabis/ hash/ hash oil, MDMA
(ecstasy), cocaine, heroin, psilocybin mushrooms, LSD, Zanax
