The School of Public Health and Social Sciences invites applications from suitably qualified
and competent individuals to fill the following post.

Job Title

Alumni and Field Placement Coordinator/ Liaison Officer
JOB SUMMARY:
To strengthen and expand relationships to the key stakeholders and alumni and ensuring
there is a long lasting link between graduates, faculty and current students as well as the
field sites where application of the knowledge gained in the real world during training period
is occurring.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Search for best field placement sites for students according to their field of interest.
2. Act as the liaison with the SPHSS Alumni, faculty and the respective field sites.
3. Plan, implement, and promote alumni programs that support SPHSS strategic plan, in
collaboration with MUHAS link Office
4. Assisting students to select field placement site with best match to their areas of interest.
5. Design and administer formal evaluation guidelines to assess each student's
performance in the field.
6. Work with ICT and others to develop communication strategies including social media,
website and through local TV and radio channels
7. Create and maintain database for field placement sites as well as student field
placement files.
8. Conduct field placement site visits to monitor and evaluate students participation in the
site.
9. Act as the liaison between the SPHSS and the respective field sites.
10. Report to the respective SPHSS masters program coordinators all matters related to
students while on field sites.
11. Assume responsibility for central tracking of all approved field projects within SPHSS.
Work with the individual program coordinators to implement protocols and help to
coordinate quality assurance activities.
12. Develop and implement an assessment tool for employers to assess job skills of alumni. Analyze
data to inform curriculum committee of crucial educational needs, strengths, and weaknesses.
13. Advise the SPHSS management on the new field sites which have not been ventured.
14. Act as a mediator when conflict arises between students and their field site supervisors.
15. Maintain a close working relationship with partners in order to find the best-fitting
positions for students, and other duties as necessary for efficient implementation of the
field placement experience.

Qualifications and Experience:
Holder of Masters Degree in Public Health, Mass Communication, Social
Sciences or Health Education or any other closely related field.
Working experience of at least two years in field supervision related activities,
research or teaching experience in higher learning institutions.
Must be able to work independently and effectively in a multidisciplinary team
environment and prioritize multiple projects.
Demonstrate ability to strategize, implement, and build alumni constituency
programs and activities.
Must have excellent oral and communication skills, strong organizational skills,
and attention to detail.
Must be a team player with the ability to work independently.
Must demonstrate computer proficiency in Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
Use of data analysis programs will be an added advantage
Duration of contract
Twelve months with possible extension
