Tools required:
Plunge Router Chisel 16 mm (5/8") drill bit G-U Edge router bit #9-U8232-00-0-8
Hacksaw Phillips Screwdriver 19 mm (3/4") drill bit G-U Mortise Router Bit #9-U8233-00-0-8
Vise Square 22 mm (7/8") drill bit
Door Preparation - Step 1
1. Mount G-U router bit #9-U8232-00-0-8 in router and set router bit depth as specified on page 15 in the Milling &
Mortise Requirements section.
2. Make one pass over door edge where door bolt is to be installed making sure router is level and true.
3. After the first pass, check routing to ensure the proper dimensions have been achieved. If dimensions
are not true, a second pass may be required.
4. Using masking tape, mask off the edge of the door on the end where the door bolt will be installed.
5. Mark on the masking tape the top, bottom, inside and outside of the door.
6. Measure 756 mm (29 3/4") from the bottom of the door and mark. Next, measure 978 mm (38 1/2") from
bottom of the door and mark. This is your mortise location.
7. Determine the depth of backset. This should be stamped on the side of the mortise case, for example: 50/92
means the backset = 50 mm and the distance from the center line of handle to center line cylinder = 92 mm.
8. Refer to the chart at the top of page 17 to determine the depth to route for mortise. Locate 50 mm (2") on
chart in the backset column. Next, read 70 mm (2 3/4") depth in the mortise depth column. This is the depth
of your mortise router bit.
9. Insert G-U mortise router bit #9-U8233-00-0-8 and make necessary adjustments according to the type of backset as
mentioned in Step 8.
10. Make several passes with router to achieve proper depth and to prevent damage to the door and mortise bit.
11. Place door bolt in door to ensure proper fit.
12. Make sure face plate of the door bolt is level with the edge of the door.
13. Locate center line of handle 889 mm (35") from the bottom of the door and mark.
14. Measure from edge of door back towards hinge side to locate depth of backset. All other holes are
referenced from this point.
15. Refer to page 18 for trim installation.

Hardware Installation - Step 2
1. Install door bolt #1 in door.
2. Check to make sure bottom shoot gear #2 is flush with bottom of door and is not engaged.
Make sure holes are lined up properly.
3. Remove door bolt and place reversing gear #3 in top of door making sure reversing gear is
flush with top of door and is not engaged. Re-install door bolt in door.
4. If an extension #4 is required, lay the extension between the main door bolt #1 and the
reversing gear #3. The extension piece #4 should overlap each. (If extension is not
required, skip to Step 10.)
5. Field determine the proper distance to cut saw-toothed gear on #5 on door bolt #1 and/or
extension piece #4. Mark the saw-toothed gear on the main door bolt #1, remove and cut to
length using a vise and hacksaw.
6. Place saw-toothed couple #6 of the extension piece on saw-toothed gear of main door bolt
#1, making sure end of face plate of door bolt is nearly touching face plate of extension
piece.
7. Repeat step 3.
8. Reinstall main door bolt #1 and extension piece into door making sure bottom shoot bolt #2 is
flush with bottom of door.
9. Place saw-toothed couple of the reversing gear #7 on saw-toothed gear of the extension
piece #4 (or main door bolt if extension is not required) with face plates coming together.
(Any minor gap between face plates will be covered up with adjustable plate on hardware.)
10. Mark the saw-toothed gear on the extension piece #4 (or door bolt #1 if extension is not
required) where it should be cut.
11. Using a vise and hacksaw, cut saw-toothed gear to length.
12. Reinstall door bolt #1 and locking mechanism together making sure top and bottom are flush
with the door.
13. Move sliding plate on reversing gear #3 (and/or extension piece #4) over edge of door bolt to
cover exposed edge(s) of cut hardware.
14. After door lock has been properly installed, use wood screws to secure locking system to
door.
15. Refer to page 18 for trim installation.
16. Use a 16 mm (5/8") drill bit to drill two (2) holes approximately 21 mm (13/16") deep, one
for top and one for bottom shoot bolts.
17. Insert brass shoot bolt sleeves #8 and attach with wood screws.
18. Open door and fully engage locks. Carefully close the door until deadbolt touches door
frame. Approximate the location of the latch plate and deadbolt and mark as required.
19. Mount latch to door frame.
20. Install door trim.

1. Install door bolt #1 in door making sure all holes align properly.
2. If an extension #2 is required, determine the location of the additional hook-bolt #3 by placing
extension on door.
3. Mark the saw-toothed gear #4 on the door bolt where it should be cut.
4. Using a hacksaw and a vise, cut the door bolt to length.
5. Reinstall the door bolt and attach the extension. If necessary, mark the face plate of the
extension piece #5, a line flush with the top edge of the door.
6. Remove and cut the extension using the same procedure as in Step 3.
7. Reinstall the door bolt and check for proper fitting.
8. After door lock has been properly installed, place wood screws to secure locking system.
9. After door has been properly hung in frame, open door and lift door handle to engage locks.
Carefully close the door until locks touch door frame. Approximate the location of latch plates
and mark as required.
10. Locate and place the plates as needed and mark holes for latch, deadbolt and hook-bolts.
11. Remove latch plates. Drill or chisel out door frame to a minimum of 25 mm (1") deep to
accept the deadbolt, latch and hook-bolts.
12. Assemble latch plates and check to ensure proper operation of locking system before
continuing.
13. Install door trim.
