Coming here is more for me than it is for you; being here is a spiritual enrichment

that I cant get in many other places; so its a treat for me to be here, and an even
bigger treat to be offering a khutbah. Bc im not speaking to a group of people as
if I know more or better than you, rather I am your servant. I am the servant of
Allah and im here to serve you so Im offering suggestions and likely a reminder
to most of you; i say reminder because most of you probably have this
knowledge.
brotherhood A!"#$A or I!"$A% in islam, a prere&uisite for dawah inviting to
Islam%
If dawah was a building, then one of the ma'or pieces of its foundation would be
brotherhood
brother ( show of solidarity, unity between people;
cement between the ummah
)he believers are like bricks; if you remove one, you weaken the entire wall **+
this is when we are susceptible to the attack of dividing and con&uering
ikhwa ( blood brother more than the previous line%
)here,s this love that let,s say even if you fight, and we all know that we butt
heads with our brothers and sisters, but we still have this unconditional love;
you,re beating up your brother but if a stranger comes to beat him up, you say
-"ey, don,t dare touch my brother- and that e.emplifies how deep that bond is
But this is the bond that should e.ist between the ummah, and once did e.ist.
/o matter if you,re from bangladesh, pakistan, somalia, turkey, malaysia. #nify
yourselves; do not split up into groups0
But what about the brothers in your community; what about the brother that you
give dirty looks to at 'ummah, or back bite on facebook; he,s not your brother10
Concerning this Allah says -2oes any of you like that he eats the flesh of his
dead brother1- "ence the term BAC! BI)I/3
$e don,t even have clean hearts towards our fellow muslims, how can we hope
to be victorious against our e.ternal oppressors and believe you me, our
oppressors notice this, applaude this, and e.ploit this. and they laugh at you,
and they don,t respect you, and of course they are not concerned with you. And
they,re not gonna wait for you to wake up and unite with each other; they,re 'ob is
to ensure that we never ever ever reali4e that global identity that we have the
potential for. 5o we have work to do. )here are people being produced by our
enemies whose sole 'ob is to destroy us and our names, these speakers,
debaters, influential and persuasive speakers; you,ll see them talking trash about
Islam on the radio, on tv, on the internet, every form of media you could think of.
And we haven,t even done our part yet, but you better believe that they,ve done
theirs. And they,re doing their homework. And most of us understand their plan
and want to do something to stop them; but how can you go into battle unarmed1
5ubhanallah, they,re 6 steps ahead of us and progressing, and we don,t even
reali4e, or worse we don,t even care. As long as I get that paycheck, long as it
still fills the tank of my le.us or my beamer.
But what kind of brother sits silently, while his sisters are being raped in 7alestine
everyday, while his brothers die of starvation several parts of Africa and Asia1
8n the day of 'udgment, do not call her your sister, because she will then accuse
you of not fulfilling your duties as her brother. )heir struggle, is our struggle.
Inshallah we say, well change our ways one day; the only problem is, were
supposed to live like we have no more days. $e work for minimum wage, pray 9
times a day, fast in :amadan, pay 4akat and say ;aillaha, and think that,s it;
we,re good <uslims, we,re going to "eaven; /8, only 9= of the &uran and
hadith is about worship; the rest is about how you act, and how you interact with
and treat others, muslim and nonmuslim. But Alhamdulillah, we are alive today,
so concerning self improvment today you can, tomorrow maybe you can not.
)hese opportunities and advantages that you,ve been blessed with, how will you
use them1 5elfishly for mansions and ben4es, or duely in the appreciative path
of your ;ord and fellow mankind who were not as fortunate.
and 'ust your character can serve as a form of dawah, as you affect others
through your own virtues
Allah says in the >uran that he put true love in between the true believers; so it,s
not an ordinary, ya that guys not bad, im cool with him; /8, its not a love that we
created, it came from Allah; so even though were not the same ethnic
background, or the same age or profession; the only thing we need between us
is 5"A"A2A"%; so if we dont have that love, we might not be the ones Allah,s
speaking to, we may not be the true believers
$ho win,s ball games, the team where the players are arguing and disorgani4ed,
or the team that works together; is passing and making plays like clockwork,
where you make a mistake and your teammate comes up to you and says, look
bro when that happens 'ust do this, and the teammate says gotcha, ok; no
argument; championship; so they complement each other,s efforts, as is
supposed to happen in a brotherhood
In our community, mashallah the ma'ority of us are professionally successful, or
on the path towards that. )hat,s wonderful but don,t be happy that you,re doing
better than your brothers or sisters; be thankful of course, say Alhamdulillah, but
don,t be happy that your brother is not doing as good as you; there is no
competition amongst the ummah; brothers don,t compete amongst themselves;
we look out for each other, we work together and I promise you that if we take
care of one another and work together, we will not be 'ust one doctor, or one
lawyer, or one stock broker; we will be a movement, a force to be reckoned with;
and whether or not they like us, they still will have to respect us.
A revolution doesnt necessarily mean you have to go and organi4e the overthrow
of a government; you can start a revolution 'ust by purifying yourself and serving
as a beacon of light for directing others towards seerat alladheena an,amta
alayhim% the straight path; and through this as you teach others whether through
e.ample or instruction, you will inspire others to act in a noble manner, and they
will then inspire others to do the same, and so on and so forth; we have a long
road ahead of us inshallah, and the clock is ticking; and the main thing you need
to understand is that we are in a better position to take on this pro'ect than most
muslims across the world
7rophet <uhammad * )hose who love each other for the sake of Allah, they,ll be
placed upon pulpits of light on the 2ay of ?udgment; even the prophets @ the
martyrs will be 'ealous of them, because of the blessings placed upon them. And
he also says that Allah said those who love, give, and sacrifice for each other and
those who fulfill the ties of brotherhood for <y 5ake, it is obligatory upon <e to
;ove them.
An akh in Islamic terms is broader and stronger than the linguistic meaning of the
word Akh, which implies a blood relationship
I//A<A; <#,<I/#/A I!"$A * The believers are nothing but brothers.
In 5urah Ba&arah, Allah describes how if a muslim murders someone, the victims
family has the right to either forgive him or re&uest the death penalty but the
murderer is called -Akhi-, even after such a heinous act, Allah still reminds us of
the stronger bond of brotherhood by describing the murderer as Akhi.
$e know that the person the 7rophet pbuh% loved most besides his wife, Aisha,
was Abu Bakr. $hen asked to describe this love for him, the 7rophet would reply
-the Akhua of Islam-. "e could dsecribe that bond in no better words than the
brotherhood of Islam, there is no deeper love than this brotherhood0
)he bond transgresses time * )he 7rophet says that $hen the 5huhadaa, the
martyrs in the battle of #hud reached ?annah and saw the Blessings of Allah
upon them, the first thing they said was -$ho is going to tell our brothers who are
still on Aarth about these Blessings so that they do not lose hope in striving for
the sake of Allah- * )hese brothers have reached the ?annah, yet their Akhua is
so strong, that their only concern is their other brothers; observe their love,
selflessness
In a "adith, the 7rophet says none of you has perfected his Imaan faith% until he
loves for his brother what he would love for himself. 5tory of 5ahaba and how he
perfected his imaan; man was selling horse for 9, and companion bargained up
and bought it for BC had he been on the other side, he wouldve liked that price%.
$ithout brotherhood, you can not taste the sweetness of Imaan.
6 things that you need to taste the sweetness of Imaan.
B. "e loves Allah and the 7rophet more than anything else
C. "e loves his fellow <uslim for the sake of Allah
6. "e hates the things that Allah hates as much as he would hate
the fire of hell
And when he tastes the sweetness of imaan, everything else in life will seem dull
compared to it; no woman, no drink, no money; the <u,min is above that
7rophetD )he believer is like a mirror to the other believer. $hat do you do in
front of the mirror; you check for flaws and you fi. them; so should you look at
your brother like his mirror and help correct and improve him or make dua for
him. Can you imagine what it would be like if every muslim made dua for 'ust
one of his fellow <uslims10 An angel then comes and does the same dua for
you0 In the past the <uslims would make dua for his fellow <uslim 'ust so an
angel would make that dua for him. Allah says he will give you one reward for
every <uslim you do dua for; imagine if you make the dua, Allah please Bless
every single <uslim10
