education for the Health Sciences under a new
administrative structure - The Faculty of Medicine
and Health Sciences. This consists of the Faculty of
Medicine and the School of Nursing. The
administrative and academic programs are overseen
by the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Health

FACULTY OF MEDICINE

Starting in the academic year 2007/2008, the
Faculty of Medicine at Universitas Pelita Harapan
developed new academic programs for education of
Health care personnel and delivery of health care to
the population of Indonesia.
In response to National directives, the Faculty of
Medicine is engaged in a process of curriculum
renewal and development based on sound
educational principles and social responsibility.
The curriculum follows the National guidelines for
a Competency Based Curriculum and international
guidelines published under the SPICES guidelines
for curriculum renewal. The key principles guiding
these changes include: Student centered self
directed learning, Problem Based Learning
Integrated instruction, small group learning,
Community based instruction, early clinical
exposure to patients, Systematic clinical education
and Applied Assessments of learning. The goals of
the program are to produce primary health care
physicians who have excellent knowledge, skills
and competencies and behaviors to serve society as
a competent medical practitioner or the ability to
proceed to further education.

The Program for Medical Doctor consists of two
components:
