Hi Friends,

Do any one have examples for z reports and report painter reports??

Hi,

SAP has provided lot of reports in each module. However, if the standard reports does not meet the
Business requirements, we can develop our own reports.

Developing of reports can be done through ABAP custom reports / through Report Painter / ABAP
Query.

ABAP Custom reports are called as Z reports, because any program developed have to start with
letter Z. This is basically to identify that this is not a standard SAP program. ABAP reports can be
developed by ABAP Consultants based on the Functional Design prepared by Functional Consultant.
This will involve picking up the right tables and fields and adding logic to the program

On the other hand Report Painter reports are relatively easy and it can be developed by Functional
Consultants. For example in FICO module lot of reports in Cost Center Accounting, Profit Center
Accounting, Profitability Analysis etc. can be developed using Report Painter. Check the transaction
codes GRR1 / GRR2 / GRR3 for create / change / display of Report Painter reports.

We developed Z-reports for custom inventory reporting; customized viewing of Material Master
tables;Price Variance reporting.

In general, for my FICO group, if they request a query that they want to use on a regular basis, I create
the query, fine-tune it with them, and then use it to spec a z-report. Ex: custom inventory reporting and
customized viewing of the MM.

Or if I can't get all the information they need into a query, a z-report is spec'd. Ex: PPV report.

Always look for a standard report first - saves a lot of aggravation in hot packs and upgrades
