Role Description:
Responsibilities will include:
Overseeing the activities of the projects appointed project management contractor
and its subcontractors from notice to proceed, commissioning to full commercial
operations
Management and maintenance of all permits, licences, authorisation necessary for
the construction of the wind-farm
Monitoring and confirming EPC contractors progress and adherence to their
respective contracts
Providing the General Manager with support to including the reporting of progress,
support for claims for extension of time and or costs, feedback of data installed on
the equipment and quality issues on site
Confirm that specific quality assurance and quality control checks are undertaken
during manufacturing, testing and erection of major pieces of equipment including
for wind turbines being manufactured in China
Overseeing and controlling Balance of Plant works installation in anticipation of
wind turbines and other equipment delivery
Maintaining the LTWP construction budget and ensuring the project is completed
within budget and on time
To perform all duties with a strong emphasis on health, safety, quality and
environmental compliance and continuous improvement
Promote safe working practises throughout the performance of the works, with
particular emphasis on promoting safe working practises amongst the various
contractors
Manage the interfaces between contractors and provide innovative solutions to
schedule conflicts to minimize project delay and cost
To provide leadership for the site based ATL team comprising of two electrical, two
mechanical, and two civil engineers, a planner, and an environmental, health and
safety specialist, all based at the wind farm site
Experience and Qualifications:
Experienced construction site manager or project manager with a proven track
record delivering construction projects on time and on budget
Experience overseeing the construction programmes and interfacing the activities of
several contractors with emphasis on providing solutions for mitigating delay
Managed and safely delivered the construction of at least two wind energy projects
(On shore or Offshore) to the expected level of quality
Willing to relocate to Kenya for 3 years
Experienced interpreting and managing EPC contracts and Power Purchase
Agreements
Experience of technical and commercial asset management, master programs and
interface schedules
An engineering degree in mechanical, civil, electrical engineering or equivalent
The role will be based at the wind farm site
