Eligibility Criteria for Admission to Doctoral Programmes
The candidate should possess a Masters degree with CGPA / OGPA of not less than 2.50/4.00
or 6.50 / 10.00 or an equivalent CGPA / OGPA or an equivalent qualification from a recognized
Agricultural University in the same subject in which candidate seeks to specialize in Ph.D. degree.
For SC/ST/Cat-I Candidates, mere pass is enough.
Note :i) For Ph.D. in Molecular Biology and Biotechnology, candidates with Masters degree in
Molecular Biology and Biotechnology / Plant Biotechnology / Genetics and Plant Breeding/
Agricultural Botany / Agricultural Microbiology / Plant Pathology / Agricultural Entomology /
Crop Physiology / Nematology / Agronomy / Horticultural Sciences / Seed Science and Tech-
nology/ Forestry / Plant Biochemistry / Soil Science are eligible.
ii) For Ph.D. in Agribusiness Management Candidates with Master's degree in Agricultural
Marketing and Co-op./Agricultural Economics/Agribusiness Management from a recognized
Agricultural University are eligible.

Eligibility Criteria
The candidate should possess a Bachelors degree in the concrened discipline mentioned below
for each subject group from a recognized University with CGPA / OGPA of not less than 2.25/4.00 or
6.00 / 10.00 or an equivalent CGPA / OGPA. For SC/ST/Cat-I candidates, mere pass is
enough.
Mode of admission
The candidate seeking admission including the deputed candidates from recognized State / Cen-
tral Governments and Autonomous institutions for Masters degree programme shall apply for only
one subject group of his/her choice and appear for written test for 50 marks in that group covering
all the subjects included under the group.

Admission for the seats shall be made according to merit as indicated below:
Max. Marks
i) Weightage to the extent of 50 per cent marks in qualifying degree : 50
ii) Marks obtained out of 50 marks in Entrance Test : 50

NOTE : a) To become eligible for admission a candidate shall have to secure a minimum of 50% of
marks out of the total shown above. This condition shall not apply to the candidates be-
longing to SC/ST/Cat.-I.
b) The candidates seeking admission including the deputed candidates from recognized State/
Central Governments and Autonomous institutions to Masters degree programme shall
apply for one group of his/her choice and appear for a Written Test for 50 marks in a
group covering all the subjects included under that group. The writen test consist of 100
multiple choice questions which may be answerd in a maximum of 75 minutes.
c) In case of candidates seeking re-admission to Master's degree programme they have to
appear for the Written Test in their concerned Group only.
d) The candidates seeking admission including the deputed candidates from recognized State/
Central Governments and Autonomous institutions to Doctoral degree programme shall
apply for only one subject and take a Written Test for 50 marks in the concerned subject.
The writen test consist of 100 multiple choice questions which may be answerd in a maxi-
mum of 75 minutes.
e) Eligible candidates will be required to attend the counselling at Dharwad campus of the
University at their own cost when called for and required to pay the fees immediatly after
allotment of seat of their choice.
f) The admission of candidates is subject to the following conditions:
i) Availability of seats
ii) Payment of prescribed fees at the time of admission.
g) Inservice candidates will be required to send their applications through proper channel in
the prescribed format, as mentioned in page 6.
h) Candidates have to produce all testimonials in original at the time of counselling

Note : In addition to above, if other wise found suitable, seats will also be alloted based on
performance in qualifying examination as follows.
1. A maximum of 3 seats each for children of Ex-Serviceman/Defence/Freedom-fighter based on
inter-se merit limited to one in each department following horizontal reservation.
2. For Physically Challenged category 3% of total seats shall be reserved as per Govt. norms.
3. One seat is reserved each for candidates who during their undergraduate programme, excelled
in sports and games, NCC,NSS and Cultural / Literary/ Fine arts activities (Total four seats for
Masters Degree only). Enclosure of certificate to claim the seat is mandatory.
a. Allotment of seat under NSS quota: Candidates should have served as volunteers for two
years at UG level and the allotment of seats is in the following order:
i) Received National Award/State Award for NSS work.
ii) Attended national RD camp/ state RD camps.
iii) Won prizes in NIC-NSS camps
iv) Participated in annual camps and won prizes
b. Allotment of seats under NCC quota in the following order:
i) Participated in RD parade at national and state level.
ii) 'C' certificate
iii) 'B' certificate
c. Allotment of seats under Sports and Games, Cultural / Literary / Fine Arts activities etc.
i) Participated in inter-university competitions and won prizes I, II and III in that order.
Reservation of seats will be as per roster prescribed by the State Government from time to
time (Production of a "Caste - Income Certificate" issued by concerned authority, in support of the
claim is mandatory).

Twenty five per cent of seats are placed at the disposal of ICAR in each Department for allotment
to different categories in accordance with ICAR Rules governing admission, and such students shall
seek admission through ICAR counselling to be held in Delhi between J une 26

Kashmiri Migrants : One seat is reserved for Kashmiri migrants.
Registration of Students
The Candidate admitted will be required to be present at the respective College of the University
on the notified date. The Head of the Department will advise the students admitted about the courses.
Following the advise, all the students admitted will be required to fill up the registration forms and
complete formalities of registration on the date notified to ensure that they are enrolled for the degree
programme.
Duration of programmes
Minimum duration and residential requirment shall be four semesters for Master's degree
programmes and six semesters for Doctoral degree programmes. Maximum duration shall be eight
and 12 consecutive semesters from the date of admission for Master's and Doctoral programmes,
respectively.
