GEA Wet Scrubbers > Robust and effective
Clean air from water

Reliably eliminating the most difficult of dusts
In situations where surface or depth filters do not suffice, the
AquaClean wet scrubber from GEA Delbag Lufttechnik ensures
optimal dust separation, with integrated spark extinction and
process-air cooling.
GEA Delbag Lufttechnik stands for competence and experience:
from around 100 years of market leadership in filter technology.
Under the motto Air Eco
2
nomy, we offer you comprehensively ori-
ented solutions that set economic and ecological standards. One
convincing example here is the AquaClean wet scrubber.
This development can be effectively employed when surface or
depth filters cannot solve a dust-filtration problem. These difficul-
ties especially include the filtration of highly adhesive dust, alumin-
ium dust, and air extracted from foundries. The cooling of process
air is also a primary application of AquaClean. Separated dust is
bound in water, whereby most of the material turns to sediment.
Other substances form emulsions, or are completely dissolved. The
AquaClean wet scrubber is a highly robust filter system which
operates with the most natural of all filter media: water.

nomy is more than just engineering. It is an attitude that creates values with a future: quality of life
for people. Protection of the climate and environment. Security for companies and investors.

AquaClean
Proven principle for optimal results
Mode of operation of the AquaClean wet scrubber
The purpose of separating aerosol particles in scrubbers is to trans-
fer into water dust particles dispersed in untreated air, and to sep-
arate them in this way. With the AquaClean wet scrubber, the un-
treated gas containing aerosols is passed into the wet scrubber in
such a way that it is directed onto the surface of the liquid. At the
interface of these two phases, a curved constriction begins, at which
point the air enters the cyclone. The special form of the cyclone
causes the wall liquid to be ripped along and atomised. The multi-
deflection, in association with forces of inertia, brings about an in-
tensive mixture of water droplets and dust and, in turn, leads to
separation of the particles in water.
Control of the water level
It is absolutely essential for proper functioning of the cyclone that
the water level remain constant. This is assured by a water-level
controller located outside the enclosure. This controller is directly
connected with the clean air side, with the result that it is always
under the same pressure and water conditions. Water supply takes
place via a solenoid valve, which is closed in its no-voltage state.
Replenishment of the water lost by evaporation and cleaning out of
the sludge is controlled by appropriate setting of a calibration bolt.
Water-level assurance system (WSW)
The series-production water-level assurance system operates with
an electrode that monitors the water level. This system switches off
the fan once the water level falls excessively (e. g., by failure of the
water supply).
Water-level controller (KNR)
A water-level controller (KNR) is also installed, in addition to the
water-level assurance system. This controller automatically regu-
lates the water level via 2 additional electrodes, with the result that
water overflow cannot take place.
