VIV Europe 2014 | May 20-22, 2014 | Utrecht, The Netherlands

Thank you for attending VIV Europe 2014

VIV Europes success was typically a joint effort. In fact, I think
it was founded especially on the confidence of the industry
in creating and investing in a world expo which would bring
e
veryone together at an important time for the future of
animal protein supply and demand. Our job as organisers
was to make sure everyone was welcomed and given every
assistance in their visit.

With 20,212 visitors from 136 countries and almost 600 ex

hibiting companies VIV Europe could have been called VIV World.
I would like to thank everyone involved for making it so
successful.
Planning has already started for the next VIV Europe, which will
return to Utrecht in The Netherlands in June 2018. On behalf of
the VIV Worldwide team I am looking forward to welcome you
there!

Compact and comfortable

Right from the start, our focus had been to create the best possible business environment for professionals from the industries
of poultry, pork, feed, meat and fish. That focus resulted in an
international event that was business-like, compact, comfortable,
informative and more welcoming than any other event in the
past.

Ruwan Berculo
Project Manager VIV Worldwide

Networking and matchmaking

For the first time at VIV Europe there were opportunities for people to meet informally in smaller groups at networking sessions,
dedicated to specific countries and regions in Africa, China and
Latin America. An invitation for visitors to take part in a special
day of field trips to locations in the Dutch poultry, feed and pig
sectors, received positive response as well.
Sustainability and efficiency
The speakers in our conference programme did an excellent
job of emphasising both the opportunities and the challenges
that lie ahead for animal protein production around the world.
Sustainability is essential and a calculation showed us that producing poultry and fish can be as sustainable as the production
of a crop such as cashew nuts in terms of use of resources. But
the need for efficiency was underlined in the same context. Just a
few of the important topics that were discussed at VIV Europe.

VIV Europe Innovation Awards

Unique at VIV was the introduction of the Innovations Gallery to feature new products for the industries producing animal proteins.
At its prominent location at the Centre Court, the Innovation Gallery was a showcase of ground breaking products and systems,
which all were nominated for the VIV Europe Innovation Awards. Votes cast online and by visitors during the first 2 days of the
show helped to decide which out of 43 nominated products would win the shows prestigious Innovation Awards. These awards
were in 4 categories.

Lipid Evaluation Test

by Kemin
Winner category Health and Nutrition
Kemin took the prize in the category Health and Nutrition with
its Lipid Evaluation Test that provides feed formulators with
a nutritional profile of sources of oils and fats for poultry and
livestock diets. Profiles from the novel test contain the apparent metabolizable energy (AME) value and oxidative status
of the source of lipids as a direct assessment rather than the
nutritionist needing.

SmartWeigher line
by Marel Stork Poultry Processing
Show winner and winner category Processing
The winner in the Processing category and also the Show
winner (highest number of votes of all innovations presented)
was Marel Stork Poultry Processing, with its SmartWeigher
line for accurate grading and distribution of broilers at the
highest possible processing speeds. The line includes a newly
developed turning shackle as well as re-designed unloading
stations to ensure consistently correct operation at the highest
line speeds and a vision system incorporating the latest in

Pas Reform signs contract for Spanish green
field hatchery
Grupo Uvesa, one of Spains leading broiler integrations, is to
build its new green field broiler hatchery with the most advanced SmartPro single stage incubation, climate control and
hatchery automation systems from Pas Reform. Pas Reform
signed the contract at the stand during VIV Europe.
Mr. Liu Guangdao

CEO Bart Aangenendt: Unique about this green field hatchery

is that its comprehensive automation is included in the hatchery, besides the Pas Reform hatching machines. In addition,
Pas Reform is designing and installing an HVAC (climate
control) system, including a hatchery-specific heat recovery
system, to maximise efficiencies and reduce costs while
maintaining biosecurity throughout the facility and creating
an optimised environment for producing high quality day old
chicks. We aim to have the new hatchery ready for chicks in
June 2015.

Van Ravenhorst transfers truck to MoyPark

At the stand of Carrosseriebouw van Ravenhorst, they
were greeted with a big smile from two of their customers
on Tuesday. Its not every day that they get to meet their
customers from Australia in person, and VIV Europe was the
ideal moment to plan a trip to the Netherlands. VIV Europe is
important for personal contact with our international customers. Therefore we seize this opportunity to create special moments, like a key transfer for one of our custom-built trucks for
MoyPark. says Marijke van Harskamp. MoyPark bought the
high quality trailer to transport their grandparent stock, and
found Van Ravenhorst as the supplier to fulfil their demands
concerning cooling, ventilation and hygiene.

Ommat/VSC and Salmet International join forces

On the 21st of May during VIV Europe, Ommat/VSC and Salmet
International signed a strategic exclusivity representation
agreement. The Ommat Group, based in Saudi Arabia, is a
prominent producer of broiler day old chicks and commercial
broilers. With this representation, Ommat/VSC will represent

really hope to get back next time.

Vi-Cor - Heidi Ronney

VIV Europe has been fantastic! The first two days were phenomenal and we were constantly busy meeting many quality distributors along with our existing distributors throughout the European
Union and Middle East. We even met visitors from some of our
weaker markets in Poland and France which was terrific!

PTN New Zealand - Steve Cottam

Its a high quality show. Ive met my expectations during my

U.S Poultry & Egg Association John Starkey

The show is mutually good for IPPE & VIV and this edition proved
to be successful for us as we advertised for the 2015 edition of
IPPE. The show brings top management from pools under one
roof. We brought a few chairmen so they could experience the
show first hand.

WAWASAN Agrolipids SDN BHD (Malaysia) - Mr. Low Moh Sing

We would like to explore the EU market. Although we are in
dairy business and poultry is the majority at VIV Europe, we met
some potential clients.

Morris Hatchery
This has been one of VIVs best events with good visitors that
inquire and know deals. Mostly you meet the CEOs and Owners.

Zagro Singapore Pte Ltd - Sru Harmen Amiel Pahm Hartantyo

In the exhibition Ive met new clients from Africa and CIS and
they were quite potential! The show is better than the previous
one.

Insta-Pro -Karl Arnold

This was our first time at any VIV event and we would rate the
show an 8. There was a constant flow of people asking for quotes
and interested in learning about the product. Most companies
that stopped by were small businesses but they had buying
power. The majority of our visitors were from Africa and some
Middle East.

Prime Equipment Group - Joe Gasbaro

VIV Europe helped us launch a new waterless skinner specifically
designed for the European market. It also let visitors know who
we are and that we provide complete vertically integrated plant
solutions. During the show we received 15-20 leads which will
hopefully add up to a few orders!

Big Dutchman International GmbH - Andreas Bske

The show was well attended, despite the bad market environment. We were impressed by the high quality of visitors that
attended the show, especially originating from the regions of
Africa, Asia and the Middle East.

E-TEK - Laura Alatorre

The show has been constantly busy and with 51 current leads
its been successful. We found at least 3 companies that want to
distribute our machine due to its efficiency and convenient price.
Most prospects are even willing to give us a down payment to
ship our machine which lets us know they are serious about the
business. Weve seen visitors from all over this week but majority
from Sudan, Morocco, Saudi Arabia, Chile and Argentina.

Van Gent
VIV Europe gave us new international contacts. An exhibition we
will never forget!

M.S.D.- Jonathan Perkins

Overall Ive been really pleased and weve had a very good
show. From previous editions I can see improvement and the
show is going in the right direction. Its more B2B than agriculture
now-the customers arent small farmers but are quality. Initially
we werent going to exhibit but last minute we changed out
minds. Im really delighted I can go back to my boss with the
great results.

Veit Electronics
VIV has met our high expectations, we couldnt imagined it
going better! The guidance from VIV along with the logistics were
very good as well.

presented a full programme completely in Dutch, containing
a conference which provided a complete and renewed understanding of entrepreneurship, future-proof developments in
international trade and investment opportunities for poultry
farmers. In the afternoon this conference was followed by a
