1 Introduction
1.1 What is the INTECONT MS?
The INTECONT MS is a measuring and evaluating system. In addition
to basic measuring functions, the INTECONT MS is designed for
applications with a need for convenient and elaborate display, control,
and monitoring capabilities.
The INTECONT MS is supplied with specification sheets including
customer parameters and design specifications. Elecrical Drawings
are also included for customer specific wiring.
1.2 Purpose of Rapid Start Manual
The purpose of this manual is to provide the information necessary to
make the initial set-up of the INTECONT MS as easy as possible.
NOTE: This manual is meant as a quick reference only. For more
detailed information, see your INTECONT MS Operating Manual
(BV-H2214GB).
1.3 Safety
Preparation, installation, commissioning, operation, maintenance, and
servicing of the INTECONT MS may be performed by skilled persons
only. All persons working on the INTECONT MS are required to
observe the saftey instructions. Refer to your INTECONT MS
Operating Manual (BV-H2214GB) for further safety instructions.

2 Basic Components of the INTECONT MS
2.1 INTECONT MS Operator Interface
The operator interface is used for direct operation of the INTECONT
MS. Figure 1 below shows the operator interface. The three parts of
the operator interface are the display, LED, and keyboard areas.
2.1.1 Display Area
There are two display areas, the upper display and the lower display.
Both the upper and lower display areas have a left and right display.
Upper Display
Left: Displays rotating point. When the feeder is started, the point will
rotate. When the feeder is stopped, the point will stand still.
Right: Displays Counter Z1, the totalized material amount in kg or t.
Lower Display
Left: Displays event messages. Event messages are triggered by
alphanumeric code. Refer to manual BV-H2216GB, Event
Message Section for a complete listing of event messages.
Right: Using the Scroll buttons, you can view counter Z2 and Z3, feed
rate (I), relative feed rate (Ir), belt load (Q), relative belt load
(Qr), and belt speed (V).

Figure 1: Operator Interface
2.1.2 LED Area
The LED area has 2 green and 3 red LEDs. The green LEDs mean
the INTECONT MS is ready to operate. The red LEDs mean there is
an error or limit value message.
When the green Power LED is lit, all power supplies are OK.
When the green CPU OK LED is lit, the microprocessor is ready to
operate.
When the red Alarm LED is flashing, an alarm event is available. In
addition, an event code is flashed in the lower display line.
When the red LO TOL LED is lit, the preselected limit value is to low
(e.g. feed rate).
When the red HI TOL LED is lit, the preselected limit value is
exceeded (e.g. feed rate).
2.1.3 Keyboard Area
The keyboard area covers:
- Numeric buttons (1-9)
- Function buttons
This is the Start button.
This is the Stop button.

2.2 Basic Definitions
Letter Coding
I = Feed rate
Material amount discharged from belt per unit of time (kg/h, t/h, or lbs/h)
Z = Totalizer
Material amount fed = Feed rate x feed time (kg, t, or lb)
V = Speed of conveyor belt (m/s, t/s, or f/s)
Q = Belt load
Material weight on one belt meter (kg/m, t/f, or lb/f)
Measuring Principles
Belt load (Q) and speed (V) are continuously measured and multiplied.
The result is feed rate (I) from which (Z) feed amount is computed.
I = Q x V x 3600
