What is meant by 10500 KDPH

Hi Friends,
Recently I got an interview letter to attend for LDC post in a Govt organization. Since it is for LDC, there is a typing
interview, where the speed should be 35 words per minute and 10500 KDPH on an average of 5 key depressions for
each word.
I couldn't understand "10500 KDPH on an average of 5 key depressions for each word." What does 10500 key
depression per hour mean? The time which they intimated to type is 10 minutes.
I am clear that, I have to type with an speed of 35WPM with in 10 minutes. I didn't understand "10500 KDPH with
an average of 5 key depressions'? What does it mean? How many words should I type within the 10 minutes time.
Please reply, so that I can practice for it.

KDPH is stands for Key Depressions Per Hour. It is used to major speed of typing which is known as Typography
Speed.
It means how many key you press in one hour during typing test.
10500 KDPH means you have pressed average 10500 keys per hour.

Dear Mahesh,
I have a very clear calculation for you.
10500 KDPH means you have to press 10500 keys in one hour.
But, because of their time management they are providing 10 minutes to every candidate for the test. Even in 2
minutes test by arithmetic progression we can find the result in KDPH, so its not a big deal.
Now, they want a typist with typing speed of 35 words/minute and they will give you 10 minutes, so in 10 minutes
you have to type 350 words. Average 5 key depression means "A word will be counted as a word if you press 5
keys for it", for example: If you type "Delhi is the capital of India". If you count there is 6 words in the sentence
but as the rule of 5 key depression for each word, it will be 24 letters divided by 5 is equal to 4.8 words.
Summary:
In 10 minutes, you have to press 1750 keys to make 350 words for the speed of 35 WPM or 175 key in 1 minute i.e
10500 keys in one hour.
