Myspace Is Dead to Me

I decided to do a discussion on Myspace because, other than Facebook, it is the only social
networking site I had eperience with! I only used Myspace "or a couple o" years starting o"" in #iddle
school! $%en then, I only had it because I knew one or two other people that used it! &onestly, #y
closes "riend on there was probably 'o# and e%en he e%entually le"t Myspace!
(nce I started going to high school was when Facebook was really kicking o""! $%eryone I
knew was starting to use it, and since there were "ar less people using it than Myspace, there was really
no reason to ha%e an account on a social networking site when there was another site that was #ore
popular and was regularly kept up to date! While people who use Facebook today #ay hate all the
changes that they do, it #ay be the reason why it keeps the people there! $%entually they will all get
bored o" the sa#e layout and #o%e on to another site like they did with Myspace!
When it co#es down to it, I would ha%e to say what #atters #ost is "or )ust enough people to
#o%e to another social networking site to start a #o%e#ent "or all o" the people that are in a *social
network+ with the people that le"t the initial website! ,t its pri#e, there were around -. #illion users
on Myspace and it dropped down to around /. #illion! Facebook, on the other hand, is still growing
0although it #ay be due to all o" these people gi%ing their cats and dogs accounts1! 'he way these sites
can get people to trans"er could be through #any #ethods like o""ering better ser%ices! (r #aking a
site that is based around ha%ing connections "or )ob hunting like 2inkedIn! 3o#e sites are practically
dedicated to gi%ing high school girls the ability to stalk their celebrity crushes 0I really don4t like
twitter1! 'he #ain thing is each o" these sites gi%es the user so#ething that no other site can gi%e at the
le%el that they do and it is %ery di""icult "or new sites to co#e into play because o" how concentrated
the network o" these large sites are!
I belie%e that Myspace was si#ply too early in the internet generation! By the ti#e all the kids
o" this generation were at the age where they were interested in social networking, Facebook was
beco#ing popular and it o""ered a better ser%ice than Myspace so all o" these kids growing up would
naturally go to Facebook and get all o" their "riends to use Facebook too! 'he reason people use social
networking is to keep in contact with as #any people in their li"e as possible and using Facebook had
#ore people than Myspace so it was only natural that Facebook would continue to grow #ore popular!
