A shortened newsletter tonight as I am well short of free time this week. Another excellent round with fine performances from all teams. I managed to get to see some of our U11 team perform bravely in their tenacious !1 victory over "outh Hobart as well as our U# boys who with some more luck in front of goals would have snatched victory. $he game of the day that I saw was the U% &hite team who somehow continued to defend stoutly while 'ingborough dominated field position only to deny them time and time again and take out the win !1. &ell done guys.

4ur first home game on "unday afternoon was a tense affair. 5ygnet altered their formation for the start of the game with our local 67+ chef leading the attacking line with / in midfield. &hile we had numbers in midfield8 the 9arnestoneworth "crappers showed they had some real :uality and played some solid footy. It would be fair to say that we had the better first 1/8 but the "crappers did what their name suggests and scrapped away until they took the lead 1!) into half!time.
(ost the rum break 0eds note: isnt that oranges break??) we ad;usted our formation a little which helped see us regain some possession through the midfield. $he ball was more difficult to control with the field getting wetter as winter moves on8 but after numerous :uestionable attacks on our own <ark =the shotgun> 9uckland8 finally a tackle brought a penalty in the box for us. As mentioned numerous times before8 our mar:uee signing +ee ?epson from +iverpool8 @ngland and cousin to famous $7 personality 'arl (ilkington8 stepped up for the penalty8 &ith / minutes to go and this needed to draw level at 1!18 there was an eerie silence that feel upon the 5ygnet A.+ ground. 9ang. +ee fired a bullet straight to the keeper who saved the shot but could not handle the power and the rebound fell back to +ee who slotted the ball into the net. $he final / minutes saw us attacking wave after wave and the woodwork was it with 1 minute to go but a draw it finished. A fair result for an entertaining game. "pecial mention to @ran Howard 0U% &hite coach3 who played his best game of the season at 6ight and +eft back holding out some fast young guys.

C)AC(," !)<
U14 Youth Match Report The Camels Curse: As regular readers of the Coachs Box will know New Norfolk is known as the town of the runaway camel (Editors Note: But last week you said it was the antique capital of the Derwent Valley), being only a few km from the Billabong Wildlife Sanctuary for Native and Exotic Species. Last season Jake Buckland was incapacitated in the warm-up when he was trampled by an escaped camel. This season in the warm-up it was probably the same camel that stepped on star defender Hugh McGarrys hoof as a result of which he was unable to participate in the actual match. To make matters worse the memory of last seasons near escape, though buried deep in the recesses of Jakes subconscious, the mental association conjured up by Hughs sad plight triggered a psychosomatic response in one of his upper, lower limbs and before we knew it Jake was also soon hobbling around in a state of severe distress. Although Jake was able to participate it was clear that he was overly focused on his peripheral vision and Im sure it wouldnt have taken much more than the sight of a camel gliding majestically across the plains on the horizon to tip him over the edge. Brady Cook also had to leave the field to play no further part when a camel applied a blatant elbow from behind into one of his two functioning kidneys, though eye witness accounts suggested that it was actually a New Norfolk player using his fist rather than his elbow and that to give the latter player the benefit of the doubt well assume it was accidental (even though that player sprinted thirty meters both before and after the sucker punch that occurred with play upfield and the referees back turned). We scored our usual early opening goal when Isaac breached their defense to net after just three minutes. Despite controlling most of the first half and creating numerous chances we somehow conceded two goals including one right on the half-time whistle to reach the break wondering how we happened to be 1-2 in arrears. It is at this point that Im going to bring in Hendricks and Robey even though I cant be arsed connecting it to anything that might or might not have happened either in the game or the rest of the season (or even next season for that matter) but here it is anyway. Regular readers will know that they use a predictive formula to calculate the probability of the coefficient of variation to work out how things are going to pan out, as can be seen from the formula itself which is reproduced here:
where the symbol indicates that the summation is only over even values of n-1-i.) Anyway in the second half it was a different story and though we made more chances we were totally outplayed with a solitary Christian Sayers goal in our favour being too little to prevent us slumping to a

Maybe the time change didnt work in our favour. Originally scheduled for a 10am kick off we had it changed to 2pm in order that players, coaches and parents could either watch the Socceroos play Chile in the World Cup or grab a few more hours of zzzzs whatever is an individuals preference. For the record the Socceroos also lost.
As you can see weve slipped to fourth on the ladder. This week we play second placed Kingborough. Were not expected to win so weve nothing to lose and might as well enjoy ourselves. If we play to our potential who knows?

A10 ?een $he sun came out before the match warm!up started and the team must have really absorbed some extra vitamin - as they came onto the field and played the best game of the season. 5obi in goals in the first half and 5odi in the second. 9oth of these boys also did an exceptionally good ;ob as the only midfield in their opposing halves8 really grabbing the ball in the defensive half and sweeping it through to the attackers. 6iley was on fire with his foot making contact with the ball midair on many occasions and Led ran his heart out in attack in the first and defence in the second and was unlucky not to be rewarded with a goal for his efforts. +eyroy was excellent across the field making loads of opportunities. "asha showed again that he is really persistent and goes for the ball time and time again. 4scar was great in attack and was also unlucky to not score. -enAel scored the only goal for the match which was set up beautifully for him by the attacking team with a great follow through to get it into the net. 6ory and @lliot worked really well with -emi and +eyroy in really holding the defensive line in the first half which I think really dampened the spirits of &aimea Heights who possible came into the game as favourites having played division 1 last year and having a number of physically bigger boys on their team. $here were so many amaAing moments in this game8 too many to list8 against a strong and consistent team. $he team worked so hard for this win and they really deserved it. $he "ea -ragon anthem was sung with gusto8 and a lot of the water bottles went home empty8 showing ;ust how much effort everyone put in to contribute to this victory.
