2 Motivation for the Implementation of the new support
transaction
In the AP systems there exist some useful tools to analyze errors or problems in the configuration engine.
Some tools can be start via transaction, some are reports or function groups and have to be started via
transaction se38 or se37. This new support transaction collects most of these existing tools and they can
be started from this entry point. It is not released to customers since some of the used existing tools are
not released to customers but only for internal use.

3 Storage Location and overview of the structure
The storage location of the new transaction and function group is the development system of AP.
The transaction is called COM_CFG_SUPPORT, the function group is called COM_CFG_SUPPORT.
The package name is COM_CFG_TOOLS.
The package is integrated in the package structure of the root package AP-CFG as follows:

4 Functionality
To start the new configuration support tool, call transaction COM_CFG_SUPPORT. You get the entry
screen:



The entry screen contains three tabs which classify the support tools. On the first tab you can see all
knowledge base related support tools. These are:
Knowledge base Statistic
The report COM_CFG_DB_STAT is started.
Knowledge base Preload
The report COM_CFG_PRECACHING_KB is started.
Knowledge base Download
The function group COM_CFG_DB_DOWNLOAD_KB is executed. This function group needs the
parameters Path to Knowledge base flat files and Knowledge base ID.
Knowledge base Upload
The function group COM_CFG_DB_UPLOAD_KB is executed. This function group needs the
parameters Path to Knowledge base flat files and Knowledge base ID.

Deletion of Knowledge base
After confirming a popup the function group COM_CFG_DB_DELETE_KB is executed. This function
group needs the parameter Knowledge base ID and the optional parameter Client.

With the radio buttons you can select one of these tools and start the tool with the button Start Tool.

If you click on the second tab, which is called Traces, you get the following screen:



Here you can select one of the following tools and start it with the button Start Tool:
Engine Trace within VMC
Here the transaction SM53 is started. In the note 1179347 it is described what you have to do to
generate and view the engine log files.
Engine Trace
Here the function group CFG_ENGINE_TRACE_START is executed.
Trace Navigator
Here the transaction CFG_TRACE_NAV is started.

If you select the third tab, which is called Other Tools, you get the following screen:



Here you can select one of the following tools and start it with the button Start Tool:
Performance Analysis
The standard ABAP Performance Analysis tool is started (transaction ST05)
ABAP Runtime Analysis
The standard transaction SE30 is started.
Java Debugging
The transaction VMCJDB is started.
