lassic American style was born in British boathouses, where the very first blazers were fashioned for college rowing
clubs. This book, created by champion rower Jack Carlson, offers an insiders guide to the elaborately striped, piped,
trimmed, and badged garments, as well as the stories, elite athletes, historic clubs, and races associated with them. Featuring
lush photographs by prep guru F.E. Castleberry, Rowing Blazers is a definitive visual feast, transporting readers to the highly
atmospheric boathouses, campuses, and team rooms of clubs around the world. For anyone who has raced the rivers or lined
the banks, this handsome ode to the eye-catching, evocative rowing blazer is a must.
Jack Carlson, who has raced in the World Rowing Championships and the Oxford-Cambridge Boat Races, won all three of the
traditional international rowing regattas in 2013. He is currently a Clarendon Scholar at Oxford University. F.E.Castleberry is an
American fashion photographer. His commercial clients include Ralph Lauren, J. McLaughlin, Club Monaco, Elizabeth McKay, and
Penfield. His work has been featured in GQ, Womens Wear Daily, and Town & Country, as well as in Preppy: Cultivating Style.

his fascinating book explores Italian fashion at the beginning of the 20th
century, tracing its growth through two world wars to emerge as a dominant
force in global fashion. When the Lombard tailor Rosa Genoni created the first
Italian fashion house, she broke free of the prevailing French style and launched a
national industry. Illustrated with archival material from the design houses as well
as illustrations from the earliest Italian fashion magazines, the book focuses on the
most important designers from the period: Gabriella di Robilant, the Italian inventor of sportswear; Salvatore Ferragamo and his famous orthopedic shoes; and
Elsa Schiaparelli, the first great protagonist of Italian style. These are the designers
who shaped Italian fashion, and their influence continues to be felt today.
Sofia Gnoli is a fashion historian and journalist who teaches history of fashion at
La Sapienza Universit di Roma.
