ATTENDANCE POLICY

Students must attend every class unless there is a valid excuse for their absence. No unexcused
absences. Students will not be allowed to improve their rating in case of unexcused absences.

Cell phones must be turned off. Students must be present in the classroom before the bell rings. The
register should always be given to the teacher before the class starts.

No drinks unless there is a corresponding medical prescription of liquid consumption. No food.
No outwear. No headphones. NO TALKING! Please, be respectful to other students and to yourself.
The materials of this course will make a part of your state exams, so it is crucially important to be
attentive.

Students are encouraged to prepare for the lectures in order to ease the procedure of understanding
and be able to participate in the discussion.
TEST POLICY

Each student must have a small copybook for tests, his/her pens, pencils, erasers, books, correction
fluid, etc. Usually, a test consists of 2 or 3 tasks based on working with different linguistic data
(sounds, words, word groups, sentences and so on). While taking a test the students are allowed to
use textbooks, readers and personal notes. It is recommended to have a dictionary.

Only 1 person per desk. No talking while taking a test. Cheating is strictly prohibited. If there are 2 or
more identical or nearly identical answers the students responsible for this will get 0 points. No
second try. It is the teacher who decides and proves that the answers are identical.

The students may appeal the rating numbers: please, see the corresponding official documents (a
yellow book in the register), issued by the chancellor and the provost for academic affairs.

EXAM POLICY

Each examination card contains 3 questions: 2 theoretical questions and 1 practical assignment. Time
for preparation is 35 minutes, no more. The students are allowed to use textbooks, readers and notes
while preparing, but they may not have any notes when answering. Cell phones must be turned off.
The results are announced at the end of the exam. The students may appeal the results (concerning
the procedure see the corresponding official documents issued by the chancellor and the provost for
academic affairs).
COMMUNICATION
The preferred way of communication is by e-mail. If you have any questions, please, e-mail at
yevgeniy-p@rambler.ru. The students are advised to inform the teacher beforehand about excused
absences, problems, participation in university related activities, etc.
