The Lords Prayer
Sermon Series The Fatherhood of God
Assisting in Genesis: Kent Sterchi and Wil Brown.
Good morning, church! Today, as we dive into our
new summer sermon series on The Lords Prayer, be
encouraged that we have a forgiving, gracious, and
compassionate Heavenly Father. Hes relentless in His
pursuit of you and me. He nurtures and protects even when
we question His plan and will for our lives. On this Sunday;
Im reminded of a great quote from G.K. Chesterton: The
mysteries of God are far more satisfying than the solutions
of man. This morning, lets practice submitting to our
Father. Lets purge ourselves of the thought that we know
better than God. Hes just, Hes righteous, Hes loving, and
perfect in all of His ways - THE denition of love. So today,
let this be your inspiration as you sing, speak, pray, and
listen... - Wil Brown
NOTES
G E N E S I S WOR S H I P T R A D I T I ON A L WOR S H I P
Moses writes in the fourteenth chapter of Deuteronomy
how Gods love and grace has chosen Israel as His own
special people among all of those on the earth. Earlier in
the seventh chapter, Moses writes that God did not set
His afection on you [Israel] and choose you because you
were more numerous than other peoples, for you were the
fewest of all peoples. But it was because the Lord loved
you and kept the oath He swore to your forefathers.
The Bible commentator, Matthew Henry (1662-1714),
makes this comment regarding God the Fathers love and
choosing of His children. Israel is my son, my rstborn;
not because He needed children, but because they were
orphans, and needed a father. We live among and are
surrounded by a world of orphans. Our heavenly Father
has chosen us and adopted us into His family. We have
the perfect and loving Father. This is His world and we are
His adopted children, heirs of the King. Hallowed be His
name. - Dr. Dan Sharp

*Passing of the Peace
St. Paul always greeted with the words, The peace of God be
with you. This is an appropriate way to greet fellow brothers
and sisters in Christ, and so we say, The peace of the Lord be
with you and respond, And also with you. We then pass this
greeting of peace to one another. At the passing of the peace
we should earnestly desire Gods peace upon each person we
greet.

RECYCLE YOUR BULLETIN
8:30am & 9:45am worshipers can help the church be better
stewards of our resources and environment by placing
this worship bulletin in one of our recycling stations as you
leave today.
There are two right outside the Sanctuary: one in the Grand
Hallway leading to the Edington Ministry Center, and one
across from the entrance to the Prayer Room. If youre in
Lee Fellowship Hall, look for one to the right of the exit as
you leave.
The bulletins are reused for the 11:00am worship
services, and recycled on Monday morning.
WELCOME!
Today is a joyous occasion as we celebrate
the commissioning of 7 caring members of our
congregation who have heard the call of the Lord and
left their nets to follow Him. This rite of commissioning
culminates a period of extensive training and
preparation for caring ministry through the Stephen
Series, a special ministry of care and concern for
others. Our Stephen Ministers have studied and
practiced skills in such areas as dealing with feelings,
crisis intervention, asserting oneself with gentleness
and rmness, and numerous other topics to
prepare them to help people who are experiencing
problems in their lives. After the commissioning,
these Stephen Ministers will be assigned to minister
in our congregation and community, working with
people who are experiencing such life crises as
hospitalization, retirement, nancial setback, the loss
of a loved one, or any of a number of other difculties
people face in daily living.
The Stephen Ministers commissioned today are:
Michael Cofman
Sue Fenstermaker
Carol Lee
Dana McCrystal
Susan McCune
Janie Moore
Dave Riccaboni
They stand poised, ready to begin this caring ministry
in our midst. As we commission them and send them
forth to minister, let us thank God for the love and
generosity that inspired their response to Gods call,
and let us pray for the success of this caring ministry
that they bring to our community.

Come, follow me, Jesus said, and I will
make you shers of men.
