The Endress+Hauser RTD is a Pt100
Ptmeans Platinum
100means 100 Ohm at 0C
What does Pt100mean?
Advantage of Platinum use:
Platinum has a better linearity over a wide temperature range
than Nickel or Copper
No oxidation problem at higher temperature in contrast to
Copper

Type Ceramic Glass Thin film
Temperature -200600C -50450C -50500C
The trend is to expand
the temperature
range of the thin film
sensors. This reduces
material costs
(amount of platinum).

TC Thermocouple - Basic physics
SEEBECK EFFECT
If the conductors' metal is not the same and if the two junctions are at different
temperatures, between them a voltage is generated, and hence an electric current
flows in the circuit.

A Thermocouple is a temperature sensor, that generates a voltage depending on the
temperature.
This voltage only indicates the temperature difference between the cold junction Tjct
and the reference point Tref . This means that the temperature of Tref must be
known.

Measuring principle glass electrode
Analysis - pH
pH is a potentiometric measurement method.
The measuring effect is based on a pH sensitive glass membrane
whose surface reacts to the acid content with a specific voltage.
This voltage is then measured relative to a reference element.
pH is calculated according the Nernst law equation.

Contrary to the glass electrode no charges are transported
through the insulator, the effect is purely electrostatic.
