Stainless View vs Crimsafe
Stainless View Crimsafe
Mesh
Stainless View security mesh is
made from T316 marine grade
stainless steel. Superior to its
T304 counterpart, T316 is more
resistant to corrosion and has
proven to have fewer issues in
harsh salty environments.
T316 stainless steel is the
same metal composition
specied by performance yacht
manufacturers on crucial ttings
and cables.
Mesh
Crimsafe mesh is made from
T304 stainless steel which is
a grade of stainless steel that
does not last as long as T316
in corrosive environments.
Fixing System
Stainless View is manufactured
without traditional mechanical
xings such as old fashioned
screws and rivets. The key
features of this system are:
Zero contact
This means there is zero
contact between the stainless
steel mesh and aluminium frame
which minimises the chance
of galvanic corrosion between
different types of metal as
there are no screws to start the
corrosion process.
Locked in keyway channel
Stainless Views unique channel
system is one of the strongest
on the market. It combines a
T-groove and 3M VHB high
performance adhesive tape to
ensure that the mesh does not
slip out of the aluminium frame.
Fixing System
Crimsafes patented clamp
system uses mechanical xing
such as screws. The attachment
of mechanical xing initiates the
corrosion by creating a direct
contact between the stainless
mesh, aluminium frame and the
mechanical xing itself.

Stainless View Crimsafe
Appearance
The look of Stainless View is one of a clean frame with no screws
or black bead tape to distract from looking through the mesh.
Appearance
As mentioned above, Crimsafe uses mechanical xings such as
screws and rivets which distract from the view through the mesh.
Australian Standards
All Stainless View products are tested to and pass the latest
Australian Standards for Security Doors and Grilles, namely
AS5039:2008.
They passed all the requirements including:
n Knife Shear test
n Impact test
n Pull test
n Anti-Jemmy test
n 1000-hour Salt Spray test AS 2331.3.1
n Probe test
n Fire Attenuation Test FSZ0688
Knife Shear test
As its name suggests, the Knife Shear Test is designed to test the
strength of the security mesh. It involves applying mechanical force
with a heavy duty knife to the security mesh being tested. This is
carried out three times with a new blade for each. In order to pass
the Knife Shear Test, the mesh must not allow the blade to make
an incision greater than 150mm.
Impact test
The Impact Test is designed to simulate a physical attack on a
screen. To perform this test, a large pendulum weight is used to
generate 100j of impact energy at a specied point. In order to
pass, the door or window screen must withstand a series of ve
impacts.
Anti-Jemmy test
The Jemmy Test involves wedging a lever between the security
door lock and hinge and the door frame to which the security
screen is mounted. A mechanical winch is used in an attempt to
pry the door open. In order to pass the Jemmy Test, the security
door must remain securely closed. Stainless Views security doors
and windows passed this AS test with ease.
Pull test
When testing type 3 products, such as Stainless View, a pull test
can only be carried out if a sufcient gap is achieved following the
Jemmy Test. If no gap is formed, there is nowhere to mount the
Pull Test bracket, or hold onto in a real scenario. Because Stainless
View products performed so well in each preceding test, the Pull
Test could not be carried out and Stainless Views security doors
and windows automatically passed.

Crimsafe use Structural Grade 304 stainless steel. Others use 316 Marine steel. Structural Grade 304 stainless steel has a
higher tensile strength than 316, meaning it can resist more force applied against it and is highly effective against knife attack.
Uncoated Marine steel has a higher resistance to corrosion when immersed in salt-water, but our specially developed black
powder coating gives our 304 Structural Grade mesh rust resistance far beyond that of raw Marine steel.
This is a play on words. Normally structural steel or stainless refers to steel that has been formed to make up a structure of a
building like I-beams, etc. The technical denition might be along the lines of: a strong material that is formed into structural
steel. It almost always refers to beams, channels, angles, rails, bars, etc. used for construction and to make up a structure. Is
0.9mm wire a structure errr no thats a massive stretch.
Crimsafes specially developed black powder coat is the same specially developed black powder coat as Stainless View, as
its painted on the same line in the same factory!
Crimsafe use thicker mesh. Customers get more metal for their money. The strands of mesh in Crimsafe are 0.9mm thick.
Others are 0.8mm. This means even though the difference cannot be seen with the naked eye, our mesh is actually 26.5%
thicker than the others and correspondingly stronger.
The 0.8 wire use by Stainless View has 11 x 11 strands per sq inch; the 0.9 wire use by Crimsafe has 10 x 10 strands per sq inch.
Therefore Crimsafe actually uses less mesh compared to Stainless View.
Specially developed antistatic coating. The black coating of Crimsafe actively repels the build-up of dust and impurities that
can make your screens look dirty. It was developed in conjunction with Dulux and makes Crimsafe the only commercial grade
UV fade-resistant screen. Crimsafe also sell a specially developed anti-static glove that can be used to clean the mesh.
As mentioned above, their mesh is actually painted at the same plant as a Stainless View mesh. The specially developed
anti-static glove is a micro bre mitt which Crimsafe has repackaged and rebranded.
Santoprene Frame Bead. The unique design of the insulating Frame Bead ensures that dirt and grime will not build up on the
edge of the screen frame. The angled Santoprene rubber allows rainwater to wash away airborne particles that build up on the
screen and stops it collecting on the top edge of the screen frame. Therefore eliminating any chance of the dissimilar metals
being connected and in turn stopping electrolysis.
The Santoprene Frame Bead may reduce dirt and grime build-up. However, it does not eliminate white corrosion from appearing.
The Santoprene Frame Bead does not make the mesh under it waterproof and therefore less prone to white corrosion appearing.
