(Linn County), Kim (Clackamas County),and Roxann (AMH).
Agenda Items:

AMH Updates

2015 Outreach Calendar: The artwork and text has been submitted to the
publication staff, and they will have a minimum of 2 draft pages (with different
schemes) to Roxann by the end of June for review and selection. Our plan is to
have calendars and flyers for the 2016 art search printed and ready for distribution
tentatively by the third week of August. This would allow for those of you that
may want them when making connections with teachers at the beginning of the
school year.
OHT Data Update: We have come up with a new barrier regarding PG OHT
data. We apologize for how long this is taking; with all new staff on our team we
are still learning the inner workings between divisions. We have heard from
Rusha, our representative on the OHA Health Analytics Team, that Public Health
not AMH is the owner of the data, therefore we should not be analyzing their data,
as we would not be able to ensure the accuracy of the results. In the past Public
Health Researchers have analyzed the data for us, and we are currently exploring if
we have an inner agency agreement with Public Health or need to develop a new
one in order to get this data to you. Thanks for your patience!
Lottery partnership: We have not had any meetings with the Lottery since our
last Prevention Coordinators Monthly Connect meeting. At this time the Lottery is
continuing work on development of the new web page, and branding of new
materials. At the June 12
th
PGS All Providers webinar, a Lottery representative
will be presenting on the following: 1) current outreach efforts; 2) research they
have been conducting; and 3) web page redesign efforts.
New Electronic Gambling Machines Update: The new electronic gambling
machines were unveiled at the last Lottery Commission meeting. We will keep
this item as an ongoing agenda item, and hope to have the Lottery provide us
additional information that will us as a program determine the potential impact the
new machines will have on consumers.

Upcoming Regional Trainings: PGS will be hosting regional trainings this
summer across the state. The purpose of these meetings is to continue to talk about
outreach, encourage collaboration among prevention and treatment providers
regarding outreach efforts, etc. and to develop a network on local providers to
assist each other. You all should have received the email with registration and
other information regarding dates and location of the regional trainings last week,
if not please contact Patricia Alderson at patricia.alderson@state.or.us
July Meeting Date: Since Julys scheduled meeting occurs on the July 4th
holiday, there will not be a meeting in July.

Discussion Topics:

Structure and Format for Future Meetings: Roxann asked the group if they
had suggestions regarding the structure of the monthly connection calls regarding
format and facilitation. The group determined that they would prefer that AMH
facilitate the connections calls, additionally it was determined to pilot the Go To
Meeting format, to provide a visual component to the meeting. Roxann will send
out requests to programs for information to be included on slides, the week prior to
the meeting. We will pilot the Go To Meeting format for a couple of months, and
then revisit to determine continuation.
Problem Gambling Annual Report: Question was broached if the reporting
process for the annual 2013/2014 report would be the same for the report due the
end of August. Roxann indicated that the report would remain the same for this
year, with providers completing Section D. Reporting processes will be reviewed
for the upcoming year, and any changes will be communicated in timely manner to
ensure accuracy of gathering data.

Check In and Sharing:
Benton County: Working with County structure to create press releases
around the PGS calendar submissions and winners. Wrapping up school
year and conducting a survey with teachers to assess how to best support the
schools and meet needs when the new school year kicks off.
Crook County: Requested that anyone who has materials/articles that they
could forward on how to increase awareness in a small town would be
appreciated, as finding it to be a challenge.
Lane County: Moving forward with retail reward/reminder with scanners.
Excited to report that they were contacted by a professor at U of O with the
Prevention Science Institute, who has submitted a grant proposal to the
National Council on Responsible Gambling to provide a risk reduction
intervention group for 15-18 year old males at risk of developing a gambling
disorder.

Washington County: Winding down school year. One of the youth from
their county who participated in the Art Search contest had their art selected
for the cover of the 2016 calendar. They framed the poster and certificate
from the state and did a surprise presentation to her at school. Working with
faith community for during the month of November to create Prevention
Sabbath where faith leaders dedicate a message around Prevention.
Multnomah County: Completed problem gambling prevention
procurement, and will be contracting with Volunteers of America. Primarily
working with the Latino and Asian population. Nancy asked if any
providers have experience with the curriculum Stacked Deck. If any one
does please contact Nancy Martin.
Linn County: Working with Community Coalition and Youth Council.
Infusing art search into Life Skills for 6
th
graders. The Life Skills infusion
project has gone well, and the feedback has been positive.
Clackamas County: Working with Prevention Coalition school based task
force. Planning for October to focus on What is Prevention and Why is it
Important.
Round Table Question: Does the new requirement to utilize a percentage
of Prevention funds for general education and awareness impact this
upcoming year 2014/2015? That requirement will NOT go into effect until
the next biennium starting 2015-2017.
