Baking Pan

A flat pan with straight sides that are or taller, which is used for baking food in the oven. There are
many sizes and depths available, but the most common sizes is 9 x 13 x 2 inches. Other common sizes
include: square pans 8 x 8 inches in size or rectangular pans that are 7 x 11 inches, 10 x 15 inches, and
12 x 18 inches by 1 or 2 inches in depth. Baking pans are used to hold runny batters, such as cake
batter and thick solid masses of food, such as savory hot dish recipes. The foods are placed in the pan
and the baked in the oven. Baking pans are available in a variety of sizes, materials, surface textures,
and colors
Rube Tube Center Pan
A deep baking pan that has a hollow tube in the center, which allows for more uniform baking. A tube
pan is used for baking cakes such as angel food and sponge cake and may also be called an angel food
cake pan. The pan holds the ingredients and after being baked, the pan is turned over so the firm cake
that has been formed into the decorative shape of the pan, falls out onto a plate or counter to be
prepared for serving. Tube pans can be made as a single piece of metal or as two pieces of metal
consisting of a side and a flat round bottom that is removable.
Cake Pan
A baking pan commonly found in every kitchen. Cake pans can be round, square, or rectangular and
are available in several sizes. Probably the most popular is the 9 x 13 x 2 inch rectangular cake pan
that is used to bake cakes, bars, and savory dishes, such as lasagna. Round cake pans are used to
make layer cakes and are generally found in 8 or 9-inch diameters and are 1 inches in depth.
Standard square cake pans are also 8 or 9 inches wide and 1 inches in depth.
Muffin Pan
A type of pan used for baking muffins. The pan typically will have 6 or 12 individual round pockets or
holders connected to the tin and formed in the shape of a muffin. The muffin batter is poured into the
individual pockets and as the muffin bakes, a top forms over the pocket while the base of the muffin
is baked in the shape of the cup. Muffin tins are commonly available in 3 sizes ranging from those that
bake a small or miniature muffin that is 1 to 2 inches in diameter up to tins that hold large muffins
approximately 4 inches in diameter. Muffin tins may also be referred to as muffin pans.
Jelly Roll Pan
A jelly roll pan is similar to a baking sheet or cookie sheet, but it has sides that are usually 1 inch (2.54
cm) deep. These pans are handy for many uses, such as for roasting vegetables and baking cookies,
coffee cakes, and the cake portion of jelly rolls.

Bundt Pan
Bundt pans are cake pans that bake up a cake that isnt quite like anything you can get from another
pan. They are usually 10 or 12-inches in diameter and are up to 5 inches deep, with a hole in the
center that ensures that the deep cake bakes evenly while it is in the oven. The sides of a bundt pan
are almost vertical and the pans, which are typically made of cast aluminium, have fluted or ridged
designs that make the finished cake look very impressive. Over the years, the pan style became so
popular that manufacturers started to branch out into more creative designs, not limiting themselves
to the traditional ridged round cakes. You can also now find bundt pans in silicone and other
materials.
Custard Pan
It is a pan or mould, foil, tin, aluminium, or ceramic, for making custard tarts.
Griddle pan
Griddle pans come in round, square, oval or rectangular; some fit over a single stove burner, while
other varieties fit over two burners. Some griddles have raised ridges while others have smooth
surfaces. Griddle pans are made to be used on top of the stove, such as stainless steel and cast iron, or
used on the counter top, such as an electric griddle. Cast iron griddles can also be used on a campfire.
Electric griddles have a removable drip pan to catch meat drippings.
The raised ridged griddles are used to cook food items where grill marks are desirable, such as
chicken, hamburgers, steaks, vegetables or fish. These food items can also be cooked on a smooth
surface griddle, which can also cook foods like eggs, bacon and pancakes.

Macaroon Pan
The function of a macaroon molder is to help one who is making macaroons. It ensures that each
macaroon is perfectly shaped and that they are all the same size.
Baking sheet
A baking sheet is a flat metal pan characteristically used in either the oven or the broiler. It is only a
single layer unless it is an insulated pan, which is made of two sheets of aluminum with a layer or air
sealed between them. While an insulated baking sheet is a good choice for softer baked goods, a dark
single sheet will help to crisp items. Single sheets can be stacked double to imitate the effect of an
insulated pan, if desired. Typically, they are greased or lined with parchment prior to use, although
some items may be placed directly on the metal surface.
