PRODUCT BRIEF
LTE HOME SUBSCRIBER SERVER (HSS)
OVERVIEW
The acceleration of Long Term Evolution (LTE) deployments is being driven by
subscribers realization that they will use mobile data applications in everyday life.
The Tekelec LTE Home Subscriber Server (LTE HSS) helps service providers unravel
the next-generations end-user behavior and better understand the requirements
of an LTE subscriber. Tekelec provides the most advanced and feature-rich SDM
solution in the market and showcases how an evolved Subscriber Data Management
(SDM) solution can enable the LTE service provider to efciently manage subscribers
expectations.
PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
Tekelec understands that for the years to come, LTE coverage will consist of small
islands surrounded by a sea of 2G/3G coverage. The service providers SDM solution
will be required to consolidate and seamlessly share real-time subscriber information,
such as subscriber context and location, across all access domains. Tekelecs unique
LTE-HSS feature, the HLR-Proxy-Mode, enables just that. This feature allows the LTE-
HSS to smoothly and seamlessly integrate with the existing HLR infrastructure while
allowing scaled, modular growth of the service providers LTE network. The HLR-
Proxy-Mode relays messages between the Tekelec LTE-HSS and the service providers
existing HLR network, thereby allowing centralized authentication across all access
domains, and enabling 3G-LTE mobility without fork- lifting the existing HLR.
Furthermore, the Tekelec LTE-HSS leverages advanced features like multi-IMSI,
multi-MSISDN capabilities while continuing to be compliant with the latest 3GPP
specications. To address the multi-faceted demands of the LTE network, the LTE-HSS
provides an LTE Packet Core-in-a-box by hosting the LTE-HSS plus HLR-Proxy-Mode,
ngHLR, IMS-HSS and the Subscriber Prole Repository (SPR) for Policy in a single
software and hardware solution.
Seamlessly delivering voice and application services between 2G, 3G and LTE
networks presents a challenge to todays vendors and service providers; the Tekelec
LTE-HSS provides a unique voice-over LTE (VoLTE) approach both in the IMS and pre-
IMS domains. This ensures that a subscriber will continue to be serviced regardless of
which network he or she is attached to a true anytime, anywhere experience.
Seamlessly share
and consolidate your
real-time subscriber
information like
subscriber context
and location across all
access domains.
