Second Semester Reflection

Over the course of my 10th grade second semester I have grown in many areas. The areas
I have shown growth in investigating the world, recognizing multiple perspectives,
communicating ideas, and taking action. I have also grown in knowledge, college/career
readiness, and skills for academic success. These are all the areas I have shown growth.
This semester I have shown growth in the ability to investigate the world and gain
knowledge. The WWI letters for world history class helped me grow in the ability to investigate
the world because we learned about the countries in European countries like Germany, Austria
Hungary,Ottoman Empire, Italy, Syria, France, Russia, and Great Britain. I learned that in 1914
European countries participated in the most devastating war mankind had ever experienced,
world war 1. In this project we had to pretend we were soldiers and mothers during WWI. We
had to write letters to one another about our view of the war before the war, during war, and after
the war. This project also helped me gain knowledge because I learned to write a proper letter to
someone.
In my environmental class we designed and created a t-shirt that promotes the use of
renewable energy, reduction of waste, and endangered animals awareness. I did some research
on the topics and found that it was easier to promote renewable energy. I designed my t-shirt
with markers and stencils. This project helped me grow in the ability to communicate ideas and
take action. I had to wear my t-shirt on May 22, 2014 to promote the use of renewable energy to
the students at my school. This project also helped me take action because I created a t-shirt that
promoted the use of renewable energy.
Another project we did in environmental class was the intent to invent. We had to invent
an invention that would help the environment, was eco friendly, or solved a problem. I decided
to invent dish and hand washing soap. The material I used were a bar soap, grater, water, 1
lemon, 1 teaspoon of honey, and a blender. First I used the grater to grate the bar of soap. Then I
put the grated bar of soap into the blender and add 2 cups of water, 1 lemon, and 1 teaspoon of
honey. The final step is use the blender until the soap has dissolved. My invention could help a
lot of people save money. This invention has helped me grown in the ability to take action
because I created an invention that helps the environment, is eco friendly, and saves people
money. This project also helped me in the with my college and career readiness because creating
and making new things is something that I love to do.
In my english class we worked on project that represented how to be an ally. I choose to
ally for animals that are killed for food, or are physically abused and mistreated. For this project
we had to take a picture or pictures that would represent how to be an ally with animals. I took a
lot of pictures that showed how to be an ally with animals. Then I printed them to make a collage
and put them on a frame. Then we made an artist statement to explain the art piece and help the
audience understand what it means to be an ally. Through this project I grown in the ability to
communicate ideas because I had to present my art to two adults and 2 children. This project
project also helped me recognize multiple perspectives because I learned to accept and
understand other people perspectives on LGBT issues. The project has also made me feel more
prepared for college and my career and reassured that I love art like photography, painting,
writing songs, and drawing; In the future I would want to study art.
In conclusion, I have shown growth in many areas in my 10th grade second semester. I
have shown growth is the ability to investigating the world, recognizing multiple perspectives,
communicating ideas, and take action. I have also grown in knowledge, college/career readiness,
and skills for academic success. These are all the areas I have grown this semester. These areas
of growth will help me in the future in many ways. This areas can help me in the future in the
university or college. This skills can also help me when applying for a job or giving a
presentation.
