Page 4 Year of Grace 2013-2014 June 8, 2014 To my parish family of Christ the King,
The time has come - not only to say good- bye, but to say thank you! Christ the King parish has been my home for most of my life. Every moment that we spend in this world, we shape our memories and identi- ties. You have helped me become who I am now and for that I am forever grate- ful.
A farewell is a time to pause and take a look back. One can only count ones blessings by recognizing that God guides our every step and we must place our trust in Him. It is my prayer that God has been glorified through my ministry and that our music has allowed us to be drawn closer to Gods love.
May Gods peace be with all of us. Bill Runge Beginning July 1, 2014, you can contact me at: Holy Spirit Catholic Community Naperville, Il Fr. Jeff Stoneberg begins his pastorate at Christ the King on Saturday/ Sunday, June 21/22.
Dear Christ the High Priest, In our transition and awaiting the coming of our new pastor, Fr. Jeff, give us the community of faith, a spirit of trust, thankfulness and wisdom. We pray that Fr. Jeff may feel the warmth, love and welcome of our parishioners . May the years together be filled with grace and blessing so to enable us the sharing of Gods love to all who come through the doors of Christ the King Parish. We ask this prayer in Jesus Holy Name. Amen

"[There is] a time for mourning, a time for dancing" (Ecclesiastes 3:4). But mourning and dancing are never fully separated. Their "times" do not necessarily follow each other. In fact, their "times" may become one "time." Mourning may turn into dancing and dancing into mourning without showing a clear point where one ends and the other starts.
Often our grief allows us to choreograph our dance while our dance creates the space for our grief. We lose a beloved friend, and in the midst of our tears we discover an un- known joy. We celebrate a success, and in the midst of the party we feel deep sad- ness. Mourning and dancing, grief and laughter, sadness and gladness - they belong to- gether as the sad-faced clown and the happy-faced clown, who make us both cry and laugh. Let's trust that the beauty of our lives becomes visible where mourning and danc- ing touch each other.
June 8, 2014 Year of Grace 2013-2014 Page 5 Reflecting on Gods Word The disciples were cowering behind locked doors. Fear has a way of imprisoning, away from the outer world, but also from our inner world, taking away our freedom to hope, imagine, and dream. We can be- come comfortable working in cramped spaces, iso- lated and unattached, removed from life and contact with others. But then along comes the risen Lord, arms out- stretched, heart wide open, bearing gifts to transform our lives. The first gift of the risen Lord is peace (shalom), which translates as all good things, physi- cally, mentally, and spirituallyall that is needed to be alive inside. This peace is a gift that the world can- not give. The second gift is a mission: we are sent, as Jesus was sent, by the Father. Where? To the world. For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him may not perish but may have eternal life. Indeed, God did not send the Son into the world to condemn the world but in order that the world might be saved through him (John 3:16 17). Now the Son sends the disciplesus!to bring life. The third gift is the Holy Spirit, given for the forgive- ness of sins. The Holy Spirit is the gift of the Father and the Son, given to us at baptism, again at confirma- tion, and whose gifts are given to the church and its members for the good of all, within and outside the church. Primary among these gifts is the gift of for- giveness. ~ James A. Wallace, C.Ss.R. Copyright 2013, World Library Publications. All rights reserved. Congratulations Graduates!
Christ the King is proud of all of our students from the preschool through adult. I have heard of many wonderful accomplishments that have been achieved through dedication, hard work, above all the help of God. As graduates take these moments to look back on their achievements and plan their next step in life, I ask them to remember to seek the Kingdom of God first, and then all else will follow. Also, that your parish family is continuing to pray for your success in life. Prayers and Blessings, Eileen Maggiore, Pastoral Associate Sacrament of Marriage

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
On Fathers Day June 15, there will be special collection to care for our infirm and retired priests. The money raised from this collection will go to the fund which provides long term care for our priests who need assisted living or skilled nursing care. Cur- rently the diocese cares for seven of our retired priests who need these services.
While we are blessed to ordain new young men to the priesthood year by year, we have many more priests ap- proaching retirement age. As such, there is a need to strengthen the fund that will provide for their care should they not be able to care for themselves. This collection should not be confused with the collection for the Retire- ment Fund for Religious, which is taken in December and assists religious men and women who belong to religious orders. That collection does not benefit or provide care for our retired diocesan priests.
I humbly ask that you prayerfully consider making a do- nation to help our aged and sick priests as an expression of appreciation for all they have done to nourish your life of faith through their spiritual guidance and celebration of the sacraments.
On behalf of all the active and retired priests of the dio- cese, I am grateful for your prayers and for your generous support of this Fathers Day Collection. Please be assured of my prayers for you.
Sincerely yours in Christ, Most Reverend R. Daniel Conlon Bishop of Joliet
