Starting October 23, 2014

REGISTRATION OPEN ONLY TO CHESTER COUNTY EDUCATORS:
Each registrant must be part of an attending school or district team of at least 5 members,
including an administrator.
This 5-day series will give district- or school-based regular and special educators and
administrators the opportunity to deepen their understanding of the classroom-level
implementation of the Pennsylvania Core Standards for Literacy. This collaborative will
provide opportunities for team members to cooperate in facilitated creation of
instructional, scaffolding, and assessment resources relevant to their classrooms. It will
also provide them with access to deliverable training materials to share with colleagues in
their districts. Between sessions, educators will have an opportunity to implement the
tools they create and come prepared to share the results at the next session.
TEAMS
Should include at least one administrator and one special educator, plus other teachers
responsible for implementing the Pennsylvania Core Standards for Literacy. More than
one team per district may attend. Each team member is required to register on the
CCIU online registration system.
DATES/TIMES
5 full-day sessions, October 2014 through February 2015, 8:30am to 3:30pm each day:
Thursday, October 23, 2014; Thursday, November 18, 2014; Tuesday, December 16,
2014, Thursday January 22, 2015; Thursday, February 26, 2015.
FEE
$100 per person on a team, for 5 full-day sessions. Plus one free administrator or
instructional coach per session. Includes materials, morning coffee and administrative
costs. 30 Act 48 hours will be provided for each team member. Registration is
restricted to Chester County educators.
AUDIENCE
Teachers of students with disabilities. Regular education teachers with inclusive settings.
Classroom teachers of content area subjects in grades 6-12, special education teachers,
reading specialists, IST, and administrators. This event is not relevant to short-term and
day-to-day substitutes and paraprofessionals.
