Started commercial operation from 30th September, 2011. 2. WBSETCL has completed Muriganga River Crossing Line and has extended grid power to Sagar Island from the mainland from 19th October, 2011. Rural electrification work has started in Sagar island. 3. Grid power extended to Gosaba island in the Sunderbans (Commissioned on 16th April, 2012). 4. Public Grievance disposal system in Power & NES Department has been modernized to reduce response time. 5. First ever Policy on Co-generation and Generation of Electricity from Renewable Energy Sources has been launched. 6. A new Centre of Excellence in the field of Renewable Energy will be established soon by the State Government in collaboration with the Bengal Engineering and Science University, Shibpur. For this purpose an MOU has already been signed between WBREDA and BESU in February, 2013. 7. Capacity of grid connected Solar Power generation station of West Bengal Green Energy Development Corporation Limited at Jamuria enhanced from 1 MW to 2 MW. 8. Under Remote Village Electrification programme in Renewable Energy sector, 1000 numbers of Solar Street Lights have been installed and Solar Home lighting system have been provided to 3375 numbers of families in addition to existing system. 9. Record power generation in excess of demand conserved through Power Banking process. 10. Construction work of Unit No. 3 and 4 of 500 MW capacity each in Sagardighi Thermal Power Plant under WBPDCL and construction work of Unit No. 8 of 250 MW capacity at Durgapur Projects Ltd. are going on in full swing. 11. Renovation work of 210 MW (unit No. 5) of Bandel Thermal Power station (World Bank aided) started. Also renovation and modernization of Unit No. 6 of Durgapur Projects Ltd. has been taken up in 2012-13. 12. Number of WBSEDCL consumers crossed the 1 Crore milestone and in March 2013 it stands at 1.25 crores. 13. State-of-the-Art Data Centre and Disaster Recovery Centre of WBSEDCL first of its kind in India made operational. 14. Contracts awarded and work is going on in full swing in Comprehensive Rural Electrification programme in 11 (Eleven) Backward Districts under Special Backward Region Grant Fund (BRGF) to cover all categories of consumers. 15. The State Govt. has taken a number of initiatives towards achieving better customer satisfaction during this period which includes intensive condition monitoring of equipments of 33/11 AV sub-stations, deployment of over 1100 HT & LT Mobile Maintenance Vans and installation of Interactive Voice Response System (IVRS) for complaint registration by customers. For payment of Energy bills facilities like e-payment, automated teller payment, spot billing systems etc. have been introduced in selected customer care centres. 16. During 2012-13, 24 nos. of new 33/11 KV sub-stations have been constructed and over 12,000 (twelve thousand) new distribution transformers of various capacities have been erected across the State by WBSEDCL. 17. During 2012-13, 8 (eight) new Divisional offices and 14 (fourteen) new Customer Care Centres have been opened and 50 (fifty) Customer Care Centres have been modernised for providing better services to the customers. 18. The new Connection Scheme where BPL consumes get power infrastructure and connection free of cost and the scheme for APL consumers (with load demand upto 200 watts) where they can avail new connections for Rs. 379/- only have become very popular. In the last Financial Year fourteen (14) lakh new connections have been provided under this scheme which is an all time record for the State. 19. For quick disposal of applications for connections to shallow tube wells a unique initiative was taken up in 2012 13 to allow for quick short-term connections. In this system, the applicant was required to deposit Rs. 1400/- per HP one time for availing connection up to 125 days. During the last Boro season around 30,000 number of such short term connections were given. WBSEDCL successfully completed the Renovation and Modernisation works of 35 years old Jaldhaka Hydel Project along with addition of one new unit of 9 MW at stage I, commissioned in August 2012. 21. Lodhama Inter-connection Scheme meant for interconnecting the Lodhama River with the existing Rammam tunnel to utilize the water of the river Lodhama for supplementing the Generation in non- monsoon months, commissioned on 29th January, 2013. The Scheme will enable augmentation of generation in non-monsoon period by 30 MW. 22. WBSETCL has commissioned sub-station at Dalkhola (220kV), Kalna (132kV), Khatra (132kV), Kakdwip (132kV), Kurseong(132kV), Sankrail Food Park at Howrah District (132kV) and Kharagpur (400kV). A Gas Insulated sub-station (GIS) (132kV) at Salt Lake and another at Bagnan(132kV) have also been commissioned which are first of its kind in the government sector in the State. GIS requires substantially less quantum of land and also requires less maintenance. 23. WBSETCL has taken up construction of EHV sub-stations at Foundry Park (220kV) in Howrah, Hura (220kV) in Purulia, Food Park (132kV) in Howrah, Sirakol (132kV) in 24 Paraganas (S) and 132kV GIS at Kuli (Murshidabad), Khejuria (Malda), Mathabangha (Coochbehar) &Najirpur (Nadia). These projects are expected to be commissioned by 2013-14 and 1292 MVA will be added to the system. An addition of 568 CKM of transmission lines in various parts of the State has been planned during 2013-14. 24. Installation of 220kV GIS at Vidyasagar Park (West Midnapur) and Dharampur (Nadia) and 132kV sub- station at Ujanoo (Darjeeling) are expected to be completed by 2014-15 and work on two 400kV sub- stations at Gokarna (Murshidabad) and Chanditala (Hooghly) are expected to commence in 13-14. 25. In recognition of its continuing quest for excellence in performance, the West Bengal State Electricity Transmission Company Ltd. (WBSETCL) was adjudged to be the winner of Power Line Awards 2012 in the category of Best Performing Transmission Company in India. The coveted award was handed over by Honble Minister of Power, Govt. of India to WBSETCL on 15th May, 2012 at New Delhi. 28. West Bengal has been named 2nd in All India ranking of power distribution companies in March, 2013 as per rating conducted by the Power Finance Corporation with the help of ICRA and CARE.
