As a public health physician, I had been trained on the management during emergencies as
part of the curriculum to complete my fellowship degree in community medicine. During my
work in the FMOH since 2001 where there was a continuous emergency situations of
different types in different parts of the country which we dealed with in the FMOH. One of
them was the participation in the management team of the yellow fever out break in South
Kordofan state in 2005. Now I am the National coordinator for the National Nutrition
Programme in Sudan , and all the humanitarian actions related to nutrition were
implemented in coordination with the programme. In emergency, the children are the most
vulnerable groups to be insulted. The nutrition program considers the coordinated approach
among all key players and actors, understands the causes and potential risks, (on going
activities in Darfur zone)
Good coordinated response results from, and is sustained by, effective work in many
sectors. Promoting collaboration, coordination and integration of programming.
Programmes in different sectors with a similar focus should be combined and managed as
inter-sectoral programmes in order to maximise resource use and sustainability as well as
cost-effectiveness. All actors in health & nutrition-related activities bear a responsibility to
inform each other of their work and to communicate to others how they achieve their
successes. The MOH / leading organization will be the primary facilitator of coordination
between partners. The planning for actions and distribution of roles and responsibilities are
important areas where a coordinated response would be needed.
